2003 Toyota Prius 4dr Sedan (1.5L 4cyl gas/electric hybrid CVT)

Review

All around the Prius wins! A small footprint on the environment coupled with performance, interior room, including high seats and head room.

Best Features

Fuel economy and emissions level Headroom High seats Easy entry doors

Worst Features

The only negative is that headlights, etc. accidentlally left on when the car is parked will depleat the battery - it nees a better alert system for this feature, or some way of really turning off everything electric when the engine is turned off.

2003 Toyota Prius 4dr Sedan (1.5L 4cyl gas/electric hybrid CVT)

Review

The Prius is amazing. It uses the best combination of engine, electric motor and battery to propell the itself. It recovers energy during braking and it minimizes engine use while stopped. I average 45 mi/gallon in the city and about 50 miles per gallon while traveling long distances. It is gentler to the environment and to my pocket.

Best Features

Touch-screen computer display to monitor consumption and energy transfer.

Worst Features

When the engine kicks in or out, it could do it a bit smoother, but it is not a big problem.

2003 Toyota Prius 4dr Sedan (1.5L 4cyl gas/electric hybrid CVT)

Review

I bought the Prius because I'm an environmentalist. I drive it because it really is a very enjoyable little car to drive in the city. I've always had Hondas and I appreciate the tight, precise handling. The Prius is even a little better than our Honda Accord in that regard -- driving is almost effortless. The steering is very smooth. The ride is quiet. The driver's seat is positioned well and is quite comfortable. And of course, it helps when you can feel a little bit of pride in what you drive. If you support American energy independence and clean air, you should be in one of these.

Best Features

Ride comfort, quietness. Tight turning circle. Nifty continuous gas-mileage readout. Driving in 'stealth' mode -- no engine noise.

Worst Features

A/C in the 2002 kills my summer gas mileage (only 43mpg!). 2004 model fixes this with electric A/C.

2003 Toyota Prius 4dr Sedan (1.5L 4cyl gas/electric hybrid CVT)

Review

My doctor convinced me to purchase a Prius. He had 55,000 miles on his 2000 Prius and found it to be extremely reliable. It was enough for a doctor's needs. I had researched the Prius on the internet looking for fault. I found none important. I have a ball each time I drive. I am a commercial pilot.

Best Features

GPS nav system completes the high tech flavor to this vehicle. I use GPS when I fly, so why not when I drive? You have to appreciate the system approach to energy management. One of the screens displays where the energy is coming from to power the wheels. Really cool.

Worst Features

Need more creature conviences such as sunglasses holder, elevated arm rest in center (one can be purchased after market). The 2004 has the hatchback and rear seat fold down capability.
