2012 Toyota Prius v Five 4dr Wagon (1.8L 4cyl gas/electric hybrid CVT)

Drives better than expected. Lots of room, smooth transition between electric and gas engine. Kids love the tech features. Coming from an Audi A6 and thought it would be painful but not as difficult as expected as you feel great with a hybrid. the only downside is that with 200 miles on the car the MPG reported from car is 33.8 and I hope this increases as the car gets broken in

Favorite Features

Hybrid feel. push start, no key required.

Suggested Improvements

Hopefully mileage increases as I expect it will

I've owned a Prius since 2002 (currently own a 2004 Prius and a 2007 Camry Hybrid, with the same drive system; both with excess of 100K miles!), and have become very familiar with the quirks and eccentricities of the drivetrain. Despite all of the advertising about mileage, the Prius is first an extremely low emission vehicle, and everything is all about that; the mileage is just a fortuitous bonus. I say this because if you are driving short jaunts (and if you only have 60 miles on it, that speaks for itself) it will warm up the emissions FIRST, and that requires the gas engine to run until the catalyst is warmed up and working properly. Once you put some mileage on it you will see a marked improvement. Also, if you are only driving short trips without it having a chance to totally warm up (probably 5-15 miles, depending on situation) it will never get its best mileage. The first time you take it on any kind of trip, even 30-40 miles, you will see a HUGE improvement. Remember, emissions first, THEN mileage. Hope this helps.

We are having the same mileage issue with 60mi only getting 30.5 mpg per the on board info. Hope it improves.
