1995 Toyota Previa 2 Dr LE Sprchgd 4WD Passenger Van

Review

I purchased this vehicle used - 2 years old with 20,000 miles. 7 years later we now have 102,000 miles. We use this on long trips and around town every day. Other than changing brake pads every 2 years...it just keep on running without any problems. A great purchase. AWD is great in snow. I will drive this until it dies.

Favorite Features

3rd row seats that split and/or fold up and out of the way. Build quality. Timing chain - not belt that is never replaced.

Suggested Improvements

Brakes should last longer. Crash rating is poor.

Review

The car is fun to drive due to its rwd. Handling is very well for a tall vehicle. Power is adequate, but supposed to be much better than the non- supercharged model. Nice big front seats compared to the Siena. This car runs and runs with little trouble even at 160km. I even skipped all the minor services. I can't think of an excuse to sell it even it's old with 160 km. I think this model has a defected muffler. Also, the infamous SAD (Auxilary Drive) problem that make the car vibrate during idling at the stop lights. Toyota has a fix kit that cost $200 instead of replacing the whole thing for $1200.

Favorite Features

Adjustable armrests for front seats. Supportive chairs. Excelent front view from driver's seat

Suggested Improvements

Engine noise, dome light should be more like a spot light type so it won't blind the driver. Too much plastic for dash.

Review

Great van but expensive to maintain. Parts are pricey. Rides and handles well but a little on the noisy side. Great turning radius. Controls and accessories are easy to access. The seats could go back a little farther for a taller driver and passenger.

Favorite Features

The two sun roof/windows. The driver's seat visibility and access to controls. The middle captain chairs rotate 180 degrees which works great when hauling the kids and their friends. The folding-up of the rear seats for cargo.

Suggested Improvements

More leg room for taller drivers and passengers. More lumbar support for the driver and front passenger.

Review

Excellent car. It is a little underpowered, but has a 4 speed automatic overdrive which can be manually turned off on the shift column. So when going uphills, I take it out of overdrive and the car is fine. I do regular oil changes and tire rotations, but nothing else. I will finally put in new plugs (at 145,000!) and new brake pads. Very reliable car.

Favorite Features

Back seats fold up out of the way which is really convenient for carrying things. All the fluid levels, even oil, are in semi transparent containers, so very easy to check. Mostly, I love how you never need to do anything to the car, it just runs and runs.

Suggested Improvements

The middle seats when turned around do not have enough room between the front seat, so the front seats are forced to "sit up" too straight for comfort. Needs more power and a second back door, but those have been handled in the Sienna which is the newer version of this van.

Review

Our Previa has been a very reliable vehicle. It has consistently performed on long trips and during in-town driving. There has been nowork done on the car's major parts. It has been regularly serviced with oil changes and tire rotations. It continually performes well with 87,000 at 7 years old.

Favorite Features

My favorite feature is the turn radius on the car and the short front end. It has been easy to park and to fit into tight places.

Suggested Improvements

The airconditioning performance is very poor. It works properly but just does not cool quickly.
