Blue Thunder was once a baby back in (Aug.) 92 when I first got her. She was shiney, full of power (up to 100 horses worth) and had that spark in her eye. She was blue, not sad, but in color! She took me for a ride, and I was in heaven, been on this same ride ever since.

Favorite Features

Vegas! She's probably taken me there a hundred times (and back) literally without a hitch and with time to spare (as well as fuel). My highest mpg achieved during the 260 miles trek was 43 mpg. She's sporty and has plenty of pep! She's reliable yet stylish (during her younger days).

Suggested Improvements

More room in the back seats. Overall, an engineering genious! Good build quality with minimal amenities (not tailored to the luxury - but that's ok! Reliability is of paramount importance.

Review

This is a great car for the average driver who doesn't need too much speed or acceleration. great on mileage, great handling, comfortable driver and passenger seat, but not so much the 2 back seats. Simple, yet very satisfying interior. roomy trunk, fun moon roof. Very very convenient. However, bumpy ride. Very loud engine, vibratesm bad acceleration, but overall, an A grade.

Favorite Features

Handling, mileage, convenient size, moon roof, comfortable seats, appeal.

Suggested Improvements

The cup holder is right below the stereo. Obviously small back seat room. Inefficient handbrakes. Bad acceleration and little horsepower. However, perfect for the average driver who is looking for a convenient sturdy car.

I bought my Paseo in October 2002, it had about 78k miles at the time, now it's at 116k. This has been the most reliable car I've ever owned, period. It's starting to look a little rough, but the engine & tranny (automatic) both feel like they could go another 100k.

Favorite Features

Good MPG, acceptable performance, exceptional reliability.

Suggested Improvements

No airbags.

I bought my '92 Paseo in July 1998 from the original owner. It was in great shape on only had 40k miles on it after 6 years. I've had several SUVs since then and after the latest gas price spike, parked the SUVs and have been driving this. I drive 35 miles one way to work daily. I was paying $75 week for gas in my Yukon XL but now spend $20-25. I am a single parent and the extra money helps. I would recommend this car to anyone on a budget as long as they don't have more than 1 or 2 small children. This is my weekday car. I love it!!!!!

Favorite Features

Fuel Economy!!! take off speed

Suggested Improvements

Cruise control definitely!!!!, airbags, power sunroof

Review

I bought this car recently due to high gas prices. I had owned Subarus in the past, and heard good things about Toyota. I was looking for a sporty coupe, and this filled the bill. Very reliable, fun to drive. Basic maintenence. Good MPG. Sporty looking and fits in my garage nicely.

Favorite Features

Small displacement, nice handling car. I've only added a front strut brace from a JDM Starlet. It has a middle console (option) and an OEM stone guard (bra).

Suggested Improvements

4E-FTE from Toyota Starlet swap. Rear discs from Toyota EP91(?)Starlet.

I absolutely love my 92' Paseo. I've had her since she was brand new. For me this car is ideal. Im 5'1, so those complaining its not that comfortable, for me it is. She fits into any parking space (although sometimes hard to find behind the giant SUV's. haha), drives like a champion, and doesn't look that bad. I have beat her up a little, she's been hit before, but still - shes like a tank! I don't want to get rid of her, but it's time to move on. I love her - but I need airbags. And she kinda scares me in the snow - here in NY winters can be brutal - and she's so light, she can blow away.

Favorite Features

Size. Gas. I can fill her up for $25. And it lasts me all week. Speed. She can whip in and out of traffic.

Suggested Improvements

Airbags. Airbags. Airbags. IPOD dock. Normal seat-belts. If they brought this car back - I would def buy it again!

Review

I got my Paseo from a friend, who got it from an older gentleman who used it for a year and a half. When I got it, all it needed was a new air hose (hard to find but we synthesized it) and some rubber transmission seals that had worn down. When those were fixed, the car ran fine. It has a roomy seat for the driver and passenger, but the rear is a little tight for taller people, but perfect for kids. The engine is steady and reliable, and the features easily excessible. Ex: The spark plugs are readily available for changing right after you open the hood. I would recommend this car for a new couple or a kid learning how to drive a stick.

Favorite Features

Wide radio deck good for expansion, excellent interior: shape, color, coolness, and general reliability.

Suggested Improvements

The rear tail light is LED run. I cannot find a replacement for it. Other than that, none!

Review

I bought my paseo used at a toyota dealer who owned it and used it as a messenger car. This car is 15 years old and have not given me any problems at all. Before I bought it, I asked my dads advice about buying a first year car. He said, if Toyota owned it, whatever problems that car had, you can be sure that Toyota fixed it. There is no flaw about this car. The paint and interior is in good condition. I must agree with the other reviews that this car is very small and you can not have back seat passenger. I use to go on 6 hr trip with this car and it is really hard on the back. But, if you are just driving around town or doing errands with this car, $20 last a long time

Favorite Features

This car is great on gas. Would I buy another one? Yes. In a heart beat. If there is none avail, I would buy one that has similar traits.

Suggested Improvements

None.

Review

Bought this car as a fuel saving alternative to my Silverado. Gas savings paid for car in 11 months. Fun to drive and at 32 city 40 hwy I can go a lot more. Previous owner stated over drive was shot. New thermostat fixed the problem. Seems to be almost a cult following of Paseo owners. Installed new struts at 120,000 miles. It only took an hour and I'm not a professional mechanic. I'll keep this car as long as I can keep it running. It only asks for a little gas, 3500 mile oil changes, and a new air filter every so often. Have had a problem with rear light fuse MELTING. This has happened twice and I've not found the problem.

Favorite Features

Gas mileage. Easy to maintain. Easy to park. Easy to scoot in and out of traffic.

Suggested Improvements

Never, never, never again put seat belts attached to the door. It's the drivers responsibility to buckle up. Stop trying to make it idiot proof. Cruise control would be great on trips. Why have a back seat if no average adult/teen-ager can ride back there. No infant car seats either.

Review

I have to say that although this is not the most comfortable or fast car i have ever driven, it is certainly the most reliable. There wasn't a day that the car didnt start for me regardless of how much i didn't take care of it. My main gripe however is with the interior styling. The car in the automatic version at least, did not come with an arm rest. The particular car i bought also did not have tilt stearing. This made the driving experience a little uncomfortable in general and especially for long trips. Would i buy one again? Yes i certainly would. In fact, i plan to when the time comes. Once again... if reliability is what you are after... this is your car.

Favorite Features

The car takes a lot of abuse... Those of you who have owned consistantly unreliable cars will identify with how much i stress that as being a great feature of this car. I could let it sit on the side of my house for a month... put the key in the ignition... and she started on the first try.

Suggested Improvements

The interior for sure. The car is also pretty slow and uninspiring to drive. I suggest this for the college student or someone looking for some reliable transportation back and forth to work. Mine was exactly that.
