1991 Toyota MR2 Turbo 2dr Coupe

Review

I bought this car brand new and drove it for 160,000 miles. I only had to replace the alternator and brakes and tires. I do however change the oil often and only run supreme fuel. Fun cool and fast as the dickens.

Best Features

Speed, color (signal yellow), leather dash, stereo sound system w/ cd tape and stereo and surround speakers

Worst Features

Tire size is not uniform, front and back are different sizes and spendy. Also The struts are VERY expensive to replace.

1991 Toyota MR2 2dr Coupe

Review

I have wanted an MR2 for as long as I can remember. I love the sleek styling and awesome handling characteristics of one of the best selling mid-engine cars in the world. I am 19 and I bought this car as a project. The previous owner(s) neglected the car and it was in pretty sad shape. The engine spun a rod bearing on the freeway (was to be expected) and then I had an excuse to put a different engine in the car. The original engine was a great, workhorse motor that responded well, got good gas mileage, parts were cheap (these engines are everywhere). It was also a very easy engine to work on. Surprisingly, the car is easy to work on, the mid-engine design do not hinder basic maintenance

Best Features

Handling, style, responsiveness, all around a fun car to drive.

Worst Features

The transmission synchros in the 91/92 are weak. It was improved in 93+ models. Many of the problems of the earlier revisions of the car were fixed in the later revisions of the car. The shifting is a bit notchy; can be remedied by upgrading the shifter bushings and using a 75w-90 synthetic gear oil

1991 Toyota MR2 2dr Coupe

Review

This little car is the best investment I've ever purchased. Purchased in 2000 with 107,000 miles on it, my 1991 MR2 has only required a few tune-ups, oil changes, new tires, gas, and car washes. It currently has 214,000 miles and it still keeps going and going and going. I love this car!

Best Features

The MR2 is a peppy little looker. Great gas milage, very reliable, and it gets compliments almost everywhere I go; car wash, gas station, drive through, valet, etc. Women love it. Men want to have. And my little nephew wants a Hot Wheels version of it! Which I got for him.

Worst Features

BRING THIS DESIGN CONCEPT BACK TOYOTA! Get rid of that convertable look. It doesn't represent the essence that is the MR2. Other than that, a nice stock electric moon roof would be awesome! Oh, and maybe a hybrid, maybe. Gas milage is already good at 30 miles per gallon, but 50 would be great!

Review

The MR2 is the most awesome compact
car ever! Its light, has great
handling, mid-engine-rear-wheel-drive,
small, looks like no other car on the
road, and it turns heads everywhere.
It could use more power, but thats
what the turbo is for, the NA is for
tight curves. Needless to say the
other engine that are swapable into
the MR2.

Best Features

two seats, mid engine design, the frunk (front hood is 2nd trunk), body styling and preformance.

Worst Features

the BEAMS 3SGE for the NA instead of the 5SFE. Oh, and bringing the MR2 back instead of that convertible.
