2003 Toyota MR2 Spyder 2dr Convertible (1.8L 4cyl 5M)

Review

This car (like others have stated) is
fun fun fun to drive. Corners very
well, but the sequential shifts like a
little ofd lady would. Thats ok with
me. It is hard to describe all of the
heads that turn (young and old alike)
when they see my baby blue MR2. I feel
fortunate that the couple of teenagers,
who wanted my car, had parents that
would not cosign for them. My biggest
problem is time-sharing the second seat
between my wife and two children.

Best Features

Cornering capability

Worst Features

The milage could be a little better. I get around 25 mpgs, but I try to stay at the front of the pack. It is also a lot stiffer and noisier than my Avalon.

2003 Toyota MR2 Spyder 2dr Convertible (1.8L 4cyl 5M)

Review

This wasn't your family car and never
was ment to be. If you know and except
this then your in route to an awesome
reasonably priced fun-machine. For
those of you who might love to travel
and enjoy the occasional road trip
keep your baggage light and the sky is
the limit. This is simply put, an
awesome cruise around convertible. Not
a care in the world, I carry no
baggage to hold me down type
automobile.

Best Features

Size to me is perfect, which may or may not differ from the norm. But I love the compact everything, no stay cats here!

Worst Features

Perhaps two, a lower wider profile tire would give this machine an even better look. Second, I would lower the behind-the-seats cubby bottom for marginal storage as this vehicle was meant for tunes and open skies, without baggage or weight holding you down.

Review

I got mine only 4 months and love. Love
it since the day I saw it on the road.
Which is very rare to see one. Since I
got mine, only seen 2 other times.

Best Features

The style of the car is great. I got the dark blue one, which is sharp looking. People look at it wondering what it is. Too bad I haven't seen it on the 2004 lineup of Toyotas

Worst Features

The only thing other than limited storage, is I wish the rearview mirror was just a little higher. I always have to bend my head a little to make sure I see the cars on my right pulling out of the block

Review

The whole point of designing this car with a
"limited" engine was to minimize insurance
costs and to avoid the luxury tax. This car was
designed for aftermarket modifications.....how
wonderfully devious from Toyota.

For an additional $6000 - $8000 you can
install a Power Enterprises turbo kit,
suspension kit, add racing rods, racing clutch,
and 17" wheels. You will now have a Spyder
that will out handle almost any stock sports
car for less than a total price of $35000. And
no exhorbinant insurance costs!

No storage space, but why complain about
things that are diametrically opposed to the
design objective?

Best Features

This car turns more heads than a Boxster. My modified Spyder does 0-60 easily in 5.7 seconds, and pulls 1.2g on the skid pad! And even more astonishing........also gets 29-32 mpg! Beat that BMW.

Worst Features

Build more quality into the car and raise the price point another $2000 (still avoiding the luxury tax). This car's overall design is worth it!
