Today is 3/26/16. I bought my 2003 MR2 Spyder brand new in 2003! I absolutely love it! My one big problem is finding new tires. The original tires are Bridgestone Potenza. Front tire size is 185/55 15. Rear tires are 215/45 16. I can not find these size tires by any same manufacturer. I don't want 2 Goodyear on the front and 2 Hankook on the back. This is very frustrating!

Bought this car in 2006 with 13 k on it. Now have 94k, only routine maintenance needed. No complaints, great stress reliever!

The MR2 will never appeal to soccer moms, farmers, or anyone who prioritizes "practicality" over fun; however, if you want a reliable, economical, relatively rare, good-looking, and super fun way of getting from point "A" to "B" the MR2 can not be beat.

Best Features

agility, acceleration, engine sound

Worst Features

dump the cup holder in center console

Review

If you love to drive and don't want to shell out for a Porsche, this is your car. It handles like it's on rails. So much so that it takes a little time to get used to it if you're not accustomed to high performance mid-engine coupes. I've known a couple of people who have these just to take to the track as a sprint car. They handle just that well.

Best Features

Super easy to put top up/down - you can do it one-handed at a stop light. Near perfectly balanced center of gravity. SMT tranny is an outstanding value. Basically unavailable in any other sports car in this price range.

Worst Features

The wind guard behind the seats cannot be folded up/down with the seats fully reclined. Probably too small if you're over 6' tall. I wish Toyota offered the OEM supercharger they had for earlier models. No real way to boost performance without going off the reservation.

Review

Love my car. With only 9,000 miles on it, it went under an 18 wheeler at 70 mph. If it weren't for the great handling ability and rear wheel drive, I wouldn't be here today. I was able to pull the car out at 70 mph, with the front passengers wheel torn off!! The performance and handling of the MR2 in a situation like ths is outstanding. Over $10,000 later, and 2 months, this car looks and runs better than new. Toyota should be proud of making such a safe and realiable MR2 Spider!! Thank you.

Best Features

The handling ability of the MR2 is excellent.

Worst Features

Standard cruise control, I had an add-on installed.
