Awesome Little Roadster

This is a very classy looking sporty roadster. It turns lots of heads and is extremely fun to drive. The 5spd. SMT sequential transmission is most appealing. I purchased the optional hardtop, which further enhances the overall appearance of the car. It is often mistaken for a porsche boxster. The very limited production numbers make the car quite unique. You occassionally will see one here and there. The overall quality and value for the $$$ is most attractive. This car will prove to be a true classic from Toyota. The resale value is extremely high.

Roadster Fun

Bought used this year and got a yellow one with the 5 speed. (The other choice was Red with more miles) The first few weeks were a pain due to a faulty fuel line clip. (Fuel line popped off 2 times on the road. Not good) No more troubles after the clip was replaced. Absolute joy to drive, all the little imperfections melt away soon as I take the first corner. :) What a great little car.

Anybody that bought this car and then complained about cargo space, automatic top etc. Just wasn't paying attention to what they were buying. Its great fun to drive, reliable, and the handling is awesome. You can't touch its performance and unique characteristics for half again as much money.

gas the curves

This car is the most fun to drive car I've ever owned. Not meant for travel but around town I keep the foot on the floor from 0-speed limit. Has amazing acceleration for the engine size. With the rear engine it is so much fun to "gas the curves" because it makes the car track the curve plus gives me a little excitement in my every day run around town. No trunk space - no problem - buy everything new when you get there or take the Caddy!

MR2 Spyder

Go-cart handling with quick turn in and predictable oversteer. Engine revs a bit on the freeway, and luggage space is inconvenient and small. Power is adequate but engine feels a little gaspy at upper revs. 3" more legroom than the Miata sold me, and I think it handles a little better to boot.Doors that lock automatically are annoying.

Fun, Fun, Fun!

Drivers area in S2000 and Miata were too narrow; no room for left elbow. Ample elbow room in my 2001 MR2. Contrary to what you have read in some reviews, you do not have to get out to operate the convertible top. Cargo space is indeed limited, but we two have adjusted and have no complaints, even on long trips. Smooth and stable up to and over 100 mph.

Just tradefd my 2000 mr2 for a 2003 mr2 (due to ;leg injury) with the smt. Ilove the car. Where ever i go people seem to like it and it is often mistaken for a Boxster. Althought the storage space is limited everything else is great. The smt is fun, however the upshift buttons could have been made larger.

MR2 Spyder meets Miata

This is a very fun car to drive and the mid engine layout makes the car very agile. This also helps acceleration. The car almost always turns head and there are a few of them on the street. The fuel economy is great and this is an very affordable sports car. This car also beats the Mazda Miata, its rival roadster.

I have had my spyder since 27/7/2001, I have not had a single problem with it, I like it so much, I bought a new 2003 model. All the mistakes, which are few, have been cleaned up in the new model.
