I leased a 2004 Toyota Matrix. I have
all the bells and whistles. Moon/sun
roof, fog lamps, rear and front under
spoilers, luggage rack, which I might
add, the Matrix just is not a Matrix
without the luggage rack. This car is
easy to drive, operate, maintain, and
much roomier than I had expected. It
is versatile, cute, quick, sporty and
gets good gas mileage. I can fit my
groceries, and a small stroller in the
back. It has an amazingly fast rear
and front window defroster, and the air
conditioner filter works wonderfully,
expecially if you are behind a really
stinky automobile. I am pleasantly
suprised and have been very happy with
I love the moon/sun roof, the self
sufficient lights, the "cannot lock
your keys in the car" feature, the easy
to read radio, the gauges in red, The
handlability, fast or slow, the car
will not shimmy or shake.
The 5.9 inches of ground clearance,
which I keep fully engrained in my
head, would really do well with
being raised a bit especially if you
are one of the fortunate ones to have
the really cute front/rear under
spoilers surrounding your Matrix.
I'm on the road alot. I was driving a
Dodge Ram 1500 4wd lifted w/36'
tires. That got 12 gallons to the mile.
I needed something economical but with
flare and style. There is no way I was
going to drive something wqithout
style. the Matrix is perfiect 4 me, its
has style, great sound system and 43
mph.I bought the 5 speed 4 fun and it
Great stereo! i love the style of the
XR with the air dam. I love the rear
hatch back, way cooool. Its comfortable
and the gauge cluster is fun.
All new cars should come with floor
mats. Thats it!
I have never been so happy with a car.
I've owned Accords, Maximas, Pontiacs,
and more, but this is my favorite car
yet. It corners like a hatchback, it
performs in the snow like an SUV, it's
fun to drive with the top open in the
summer, and the rear space has allowed
me to move TVs, coffee tables, and
more that would never fit in my Honda
Full Time AWD; 110V outlet for
recharging phones and laptops, etc.;
Rear fold-down seats (rear space);
My only complaint relates to Toyota
marketing and how many options are
restricted to certain trim levels. I
would have loved to get the AWD with
the larger rims and the peppier
engine. Also, leather seats wouldn't
be bad. Still, no complaints with what
I bought this car because it was so much
fun to drive and had a lot of
acceleration. But at 11,000 miles, the
transmission had to be replaced. Ever
since then, there is not as much
acceleration and you have to fight with
the gears (sometimes cannot get it to go
into the gear). I am very disappointed.
This is not the car I bought. I have
been to the service department and they
say there is nothing wrong with it. I
would not have bought this car as it
I love the big/wide cargo area for the
size of car. I love the gear shift
being up on the dash. I love the seat
being higher than a car. I like the
standard electrical outlet on the dash.
The electrical outlet needs to be in a
more accessable area. Not all plugs
will fit in it because of the spacing.
The middle consol is cheap. It wiggles
and I expect it to break. All the
little drawers with hinges are cheap.
The fit and finish not nearly as high
quality as Honda's.
