I got the matrix certified used in 2008, and never had any problems with it.
I'm at 90,300 miles and it still runs great. It has great cargo capacity for home improvement projects.
I've hauled anything from a 55" led TV in the box, to 600 lbs of ceramic tile, and it works like a champ.
Good acceleration, good gas mileage.
Like others, I have a tiny complaint about the small compartment under the shifter not staying shut, but other than that and some random rattling at times, it has been wonderful.
We also have a 2004 corolla, and have experienced nothing but the best quality from Toyota.
We're happy Toyota customers, who will be grabbing the 2014 Highlander as soon as it shows up.

bought after reviewing all the amazing reliability reports and excellent gas mileage and have not been disappointed. ZERO issues! only changed the oil, flushed other fluids after 4 years and 140,000 miles. You will not find a better value around and quality to go 300,000+ miles

I find the 2004 matrix XR with auto
trans a very sporty, attention getting
vehicle. I bought it used with 6000
miles on it and have driven it in city
and Highway modes. The only problem I
had was a persistent "buzz" like
rattle from under the left side of the
dashboard. My selected Toyota dealer
repaired it under warranty. It has
ample power, though somewhat noisy
engine on hard acceleration. The
seats are comfortable and the driving
position is ok as well. I highly
recommend the vehicle.

I drive over 40k miles per year. One of
the best I have every driven, with all
the comfort and convenience features of
cars that are $30k+. Mileage is a
steady 31.5 over all kinds of terrain.
Very comfortable, and no problems at 20k
miles in five months. More storage room
than several larger models, and very
comfortable for 4 adults.

I have had my matrix since June 2004,
and it has been a great car. I average
about 27-28 MPG mainly city driving. I
love the interior. The only thing I
would change is my exterior color. I
got the Indigo Ink, and it is very
hard to keep clean. If I had to choose
again, I would get red instead.
Overall, a very good car with a great
stereo system. I LOVE the redesign for
