My '02 Land Cruiser's rear view mirror and passenger visor were yanked off and completely removed. (Don't ask. lol). Anyway, both those items were electrically wired -- the rear view mirror had the headlight adjustment feature for cars behind me, and the passenger visor had the lighted vanity mirror. Anyway, I didn't replace the parts immediately (and still haven't replaced them), but in the meantime I had wires exposed which I ... Read More
We have a 2002 Toyota Land Cruiser which has served us reasonably well. We actually bought the car for its navigation system among other things, which was system unusual back then. Now the thing has failed and we are told it is the computer itself that has failed. The dealer wants $6K to install a new computer. Of course we choked. They said we could obtain a used one for $2K. ... Read More
My 2002 Toyota Land Cruiser has, for past few weeks, failed to start intermittently and it appears that the security system is failing to recognize valid key. Dealership has had it on two occasions and failed to rectify. Ruled out keys as problem and focused on electrical. When it occurs, the engine will turn over but not allow to start (fuel injectors?). There is seemingly no pattern to when this problem ... Read More
parked and locked in driveway -usually garaged- during heavy thunderstorms and horn went off and blared continuosly unitl i started the engine. this is the horn not the alarm intermittant/light flashing sequence.an hour later same thing happened: horn stopped when engine was started. so we put it in the garage and same thing happened a few minutes later but this time after starting the engine and the horn finally stopped my ... Petersoncv, my TLC problem was worse than yours I got the buzzer all the time and it was driving me crazy. Check out this link http://autos.msn.com/research/vip/Reliability.aspx?year=1998&make=Toyota&model=Land%20Crui- ser The symptoms are different, some affect the electric mirrors as well. I am very upset because my LC is out of warranty and to me is a failure from Toyota. This is only corrected for free if you had the problem during your warranty ... Read More
I am thinking about purchasing either a 2002, 2003 or 2004 TLC. It seems there were a few cosmetic and horse power differences amongst these years, but no major changes 03 to 04 (except addition of back-up sensor)... Do you think I should get an 03, over an 04? an 02 over an 03? I would save a fair amount of money (e.g. approx $4K-$10K on 03 versus 04). However, I ... Read More
I think we are looking at this issue as TLC/LX enthusiasts. However, at Toyota Corporate, the bean counters have a say too. TLC has a great history, heritage etc. That's not enough for the Average person to shell out 60K for a Toyota truck. From a marketing/profitability/cost perspective, I think it makes sense for the 2008 Tundra/Sequoia/LC/LX to share the same platform as Nissan has done with the Armada/Titan/Xterra/Pathfinder/QX56 etc. They ... Ebay has a 2002 and 2003 Toyota factory manuals and the starting bid is $49.99. I don't know if they are new. No one is bidding. Type "toyota land cruiser repair".
I purchased a brand new 2002 Sequoia SR5 4WD and the 4WD system on this vehicle is AWESOME. What an improvment over my brother's 1998 Toyota Land Cruiser! Toyota did a great job on it and thought about everything. My wife feels especially safe when driving in foul weather. I had to explain the 4WD system to the fleet salesman and he thought that all the 4WD systems on the all ... Read More
Can someone enlighten me with this question? Is the Toyota Type T-IV ATF good for the 1998- 2002 Lexus LX470 and Toyota Land Cruisers? The manual for the these trucks suggests Dextron III. My confusion stems from my old 1996 LS400 operator's manual which recommends the use of Dextron III but everyone on the LS400 forum including the dealer highly recommended the Type T-4 tranny fluid for smooth shifting. Thanks for ... Read More
I am planning to buy a 2002 4x4SR5 V8 with ABS andLSD or a 4x2 Tundra V8 XCab with ABS, LSD and off road package plus other options. From all my readings on this thread the Tundra 4x4 systems is different from what is on the Sequoia and Land Cruiser. My off road driving will be mostly trails and the beach about 3-4 times a year. I live in Southern California. ... Read More
Hey Guys, I looked at the Lexus LX470 yesterday. What impressed me the most is that this particular dealer has not put a "market adjustment" price on the sticker. The Toyota place across the street has added $4995.00 to all of the Land Cruisers. Anyway, the Lexus salesman told me the Land Cruiser has been discontinued. He made it sound like there would not be a 2002 model available. So, have ... Read More
From one of the other boards: #18 of 18 The Land Cruiser is definitely being discontinued!! by krisko Feb 04, 2001 (11:23 am) This is as close to fact as it can be, info from Southeast Toyota in Jax. The fact is that the LC is eating into Lexus sales, the Sequoia is eating into the LC's market share. Bottom line, Lexus will sell the $65,000 SUVs, Toyota will sell the ... Read More
Even though the topic whether Toyota will continue the Land Cruiser seems to pop up every once in a while, I am convinced that Toyota will continue to sell the LC since the Sequoia is mainly made for the US. The current LC model has been on the market with "minor" changes for close to ten years. Has anybody heard of possible major changes for the model year 2002? Thanks for ... Read More
