2012 Toyota Highlander SUV 4dr SUV AWD (3.5L 6cyl 5A)
Bought this suv new - 34,000 down the drain. I have lost 4 days of pay because I had to bring in this vehicle 4 times already. It has 19,000. The rubber fell off the drivers side window, then the window fell off the track - wouldn't close, the my screen read that my power steering is out to pull over the car and call the dealer, now my screen is reading my ABS is out - REALLY? 4 Times for service is way too much for a $34,000 vehicle
Poor cruise control, wanders upto 7 mph on moderate inclines where other vehicles don't.
Poor Bluetooth connectivity to smart phones
Strange SatNav, picks strange routes which are not the fastest when compared to Garmin.
SatNav dies down after more than 4 hrs of continuous use with Bluetooth enabled phone connected
Even the top of the line Limited version doesn't offer one-touch all windows
The transmission operation is not optimized for fuel efficiency. Anything more than a gentle touch on the accelerator pedal causes high rpm upshifts.
Fuel tank is small, causing much frequent fill ups in city driving.
Cheap graphics on speedo/tach
Keyless entry often fails
Car has been performing flawlessly. Engine power is more than ample for my needs with 270 hp. Handling is ok but could be better. You get more body shift movement in your seat than say a regular size car due to the seat contour. Car rides quite comfortably with 5 passengers during short or long distance driving. Engine noise is quite acceptable. Car handling is quite sloppy especially at quick acceleration (FWD). Car tends to veer/pull on one side and may take some time getting use to. Gas mileage in my city driving averages 15 to 17 MPG and ~ 24MPG on HWY. All controls are quite user friendly and easy to use/reach and learn. Visors could be positioned better. Need simple Tire sensor rst
Car drives and rides smooth & quiet.
Quick acceleration is good when needed.
Braking response and stopping distance is excellent.
Logical and easy to read instrumentation.
Good Bluetooth feature that pairs with your favorite music player/smartphone.
Spacious rear seating area, cargo, and accessible extra 6th & 7th rear-cargo seats.
Nice dual temperature control between front and rear.
Nice standard sound system with CD player & 6 speakers.
Back-up rear view display is nice feature to have but a little too small.
After ~ 6,000miles of ownership the LCD display on the rearview display started rattling during driving (annoying).
At ~ 10,000 miles the radio display started blacking-out (sound system still functional and operates fine) intermittently which requires tapping the dashboard at times.
Tire pressure sensor is great but would be nice if it can detect which tire is off pressure...
Would be nice to simplify the manner of resetting the tire sensor light (ignition key + under dash button seq.).
The owner's manual could have been written better (made easier to understand) like before.
LCD display (3.5 inch) - rearview monitoring could be made larger to be more effective (6-7").
2012 Toyota Highlander SUV Limited 4dr SUV (3.5L 6cyl 5A)
I bought this car to upgrade out of my Camry, tried to see if Toyota could still impress me. This was a great SUV, great visibility, great features with NAV system, back up camera, JBL sound system, leather seats, heightened ride. The way it was drinking gas at 20-21 mpg was horrible and in the end a deal breaker
I purchased my 2012 Highlander in Dec. 2012, I do love my Vehicle, befor this I had a 2000 Rav4 so this is a step up for me. I am having Major issues with my Overhead Console that has the Small Compartment above the Rearview Mirror. I have taken it in already for this problem twice for falling completely down and the small door not closing. I'm wandering if other owners are having this issue and what have they done to fix it because it seems that the dealer just won't fix it they just bandaid the problem. I just don't kbnow what to do anymore and I am frustrated because this is my new car and I shouldn't have any problems and yes I have purchased the full and extended warranties. Help Please
Sun Roof, XM-Radio, 3rd Seat and Very Roomy and Exterior Features and Color - Crissom-Mica
The Overhead Console next to the SunRoof there is really no need for this and it's not a good feature and poorly constructed. It should not be plastic if this has to be there.
