2006 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Limited 4dr SUV AWD (3.3L 6cyl gas/electric hybrid CVT)
This car wasn't great. It is one of the first hybrid models out there and we bought this car new and it has about 50K on it now. We've had some pricey problems with it though. At times it won't start and have had many recalls on it for steering! And if you spill even a little bit of water you'll short out all the electronics in the car!!!! That was over $7500!!!! The car does drive pretty nice and does have a lot of power though. And I was in an accident in it and the engine did shift but luckily not onto us. I personally don't think it was that safe.
The car is okay but not worth the money.
I really like the leather seats and possible 3rd row seating and large trunk.
Better electronics and improvements to the hybrid system!
I have owned a 2006 HH for the last 50K miles and now sits at 99.7K. When I say sit, I mean it. The inverter just died, luckily while stationary and nobody was injured. Toyota still working to fix the car, at least a $6K repair and yes Toyota will pay for it. I dont know who is luckier, those who have the failure or those who are waiting for the failure.
The redesign occurred in late 2007, the inverter I am getting will be the newer design. I wish I could say this is the only problem I have had, but we lost the climate control system at 50K and Toyota covered it. That was almost $2K
Despite the problems, so far Toyota stands behind the product. Their quality plus their warranty have obviously lost them alot of money on this car
