2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser SUV 4dr SUV 4WD (4.0L 6cyl 5A)

Review

This car is stunning and a head turner. But has the goods to back up the bold looks with an ample engine, towing ability and drive train to go anywhere you so desire. Also there is plenty after market goodies to customize and make it the way you want it to look

Best Features

Bold Looks that took me away from the frumpy 4runner

Worst Features

door needs some guarding strips and wasted space above the glove compartment. Does any one actully put gloves in those things anyway ?

2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser SUV 4dr SUV 4WD (4.0L 6cyl 6M)

Review

This is a truck meant to go off road but it really bridges the gap between on and off-road drivers. In Four Wheeler magazine, the FJ had the best mileage, best pickup, best quarter mile, best braking and best engine/transmission combo of the seven SUV's tested(Feb 2007). For off- roaders, it also boasts an excellent stock suspension with over 19" of articulation and an engine tuned for torque with 278 lb/ft. The FJ Cruiser does have its drawbacks, however. The full-time 4wd means that you won't be driving from Denver to Vegas on one tank of gas. The rear visibility is pretty poor but a sonar rear-parking assist is available to compensate. In all I highly recommend the FJ.

Best Features

Unique styling, good stock suspension and a powerful engine make for a very capable ride on and off road. After market parts are readily available for any upgrades you might want to make.

Worst Features

Visibility could be improved and a front locking differential would be nice on the trail. How about a removable top as well? This is a brand new car and the few bugs will be ironed out. Keep your eye out for the hefty, all black TRD special edition next year and the SUT version with a big sunroof

I have owned Broncos, Jeeps and other 4x4s and this one is the very best. Great on the highway, rides better than my wife's Volvo XC90! Great traction in 18" of snow with no slippage. Mine is the Black Cherry and I call it Razlberry, it sure has pizazz!! Toyota has hit a homerun and I am proud to own it, as others only wish they did. Everybody thinks they cost more than they do.

Best Features

Looks and the looks you get. The scale model (even the same color) Toyota sent me just goes to show you that Toyota cares about their customers and their opinions. The stereo with the base addition is awesome! Power and pick-up.

Worst Features

Driving or running lights, map lights, you really need to put spot mirrors on the exterior mirrors. But hey, what's not to love?

Review

We off-road it on a gulf coast beach a/o 2x/mo. It's been up to every condition we've encountered. Commute to work daily 70 miles RT. Comfortable, feels safe. Handles everything well. Due to design, limited side and rear visibility on highway. Big mirrors help. Drive with caution in freeway traffic until used to using mirrors. Just returned from 2500 mile holiday trip with family in back seat; everyone comfortable. Kids think they're riding in "Cinderella's Coach". Inside door handles don't bother us. In fact, with grandchildren and dogs, we prefer it that way.

Best Features

Wonderful color, sun fusion yellow. Sound system. Design inside and out. Everyone wants to see inside, then they want to drive it. Powerful. Handles well. Seats - many settings, both drivers can adjust. Easy to use 4WD. Small turning radius.

Worst Features

Increase side and rear window visibility. Outside opening door latch for back seat passengers. Relocate cruise control stick - inconvenient to use for a highway driver. It's been a challenge trying to get Sirius radio - train the dealership folks on this.
