Before pulling the radio out, try unseating and then reinserting the plugs on the back of the radio. I think you can get to it from the bottom OR, I've noticed the piece of plastic that forms the part of the dash coming out from the speedometer also easily pops up... maybe you can reach down from there to try the plugins. I've just purchased a 1995-2005 Echo service manual on a CD in pdf format that covers just about everything. I got this from a seller in Australia for 7 dollars on e-Bay. The CD has the Toyota logo and is copywrited by Toyota Japan so it's either an original or an excellent pirate copy. It covers all the mechanical and electrical components of the car and includes ... In April of 2005 I had to replace Front Rotors on my 2002 Echo at 29,000km at a cost of $112 labor and $110 Parts They were rusted out and could not be machined. I contacted Toyota Canada and after review they sent me a $200 voucher. I now have a 2005 Echo that required front pads, shims, machining of rotors(caught in time), and caliper servicing at 19,360 km (16 months) ... Read More...

Nippononly, Echo LOL. I never considered a Echo, even the new restyled ones still look funky. There are all sorts of issues from handling, to display layout, etc ; there is a reason why Toyota is dropping the Echo. A good Toyota choice would be the 5-speed Corolla CE or the snazzy looking S model. Another choice would be the 5-speed Scion xA or xB. I liked the 2005 Honda ... Read More...

Thanks very much for the answer. Unfortunately the 2005 air filter box has 2 electrical clips , the air intake hose , and it appears that you must take all this stuff off as well as the intake hose . the box has 2 clips and a rear hinge. I think the 1.5 in my 2005 is a little different than the 2001. The other thing is that a standard 5/8 is too large to fit into the plug hole. ... Read More...

I agree with you. I love Toyotas, I have a 2005 Sienna and had a 2002 before this one. I only traded my up on my 2002 because I had it for 3 years in Germany running 100 mph consistently and had 65,000 miles on it.
