2005 Toyota ECHO 4dr Sedan (1.5L 4cyl 5M)
Review
Hidden value. Purchased my Echo to travel to work and back. Mostly interstate miles. Could not be happier. Worth the $ my husband now wants another. After over 150000 miles with no major repairs. And still gets 40+ miles per gallon. A hidden treasure. It's sad the Echo was discontinued.
Favorite Features
The seats are comfortable and easy to get in and out of the car.
Suggested Improvements
Better protection against dings and small hail and sand. Dings easily.

This is my 2nd Echo! I love the handling, gas mileage, peppy performance. Don't know what your testers were driving!! I'm hanging on to this one!
Favorite Features
The whole package-it's a fun little drive!
Suggested Improvements
Front seats could be a litle longer to support knees on long drives.

Efficient yet sporty
Vehicle
2005 Toyota ECHO 2dr Coupe (1.5L 4cyl 5M)
Review
The Toyota Echo is the value for your dollar car next to the Honda Civic. If you are looking to give your new high school graduate a new car, A Honda Civic or Toyota Echo is the car. Although 2005 is the last production year for the Echo, look in 2007 for the Toyota Yaris to be the next best thing. Japanese producted Yaris is the exact same frame and structure as the Echo, but you now have a 3rd or 5th door (hatchback).
Favorite Features
Gas mileage from 36 to 40, depends on your driving habits. Laughlin and 1/2 the way back on one 11 gallon tank, tell me what car can do that, non hybrid and having 108 horsepower stock. Instrument cluster is designed so that you will not move your eyes very much to see how fast you are going.
Suggested Improvements
Seats are a little harsh, very little leg room for rear personnel, but with 38+ mpg, do not carry more than 2 people in the car.

YUCK
Vehicle
2005 Toyota ECHO 4dr Sedan (1.5L 4cyl 5M)
Review
Very uncomfortable, even for local commute. Boring, and gets uglier with each day I drive it. Would never buy a Toyota again. Fuel economy is less than my brothers Ford Focus, which costs less and is more fun to drive.
Favorite Features
There is nothing at all redeeming about the features in this so-called car.
Suggested Improvements
Eliminate this vehicle from the road. It is unsafe in bad weather.

2000 Echo Sedan
Vehicle
2005 Toyota ECHO 4dr Sedan (1.5L 4cyl 5M)
Review
I bought my manual transmission equipped Echo to tow on the ground behind my motorhome because of its light weight and Toyota's known reliability and I have not been disappointed.
Favorite Features
Ease of entrance. Good power to weight ratio. Reliabilty. Contrary to what most reviewers have written, I like the location of the instruments because I do not have to move my eyes too far from the road surface. In most other cars I find that the steering wheel obstructs my view of the instruments.
Suggested Improvements
I find that I cannot see the odometer/trip meters very well due to poor lighting and reflections from the glass in front of the instruments.

Echo, Love it !
Vehicle
2005 Toyota ECHO 2dr Coupe (1.5L 4cyl 5M)
Review
The best money I ever spent on a car! It's a shame this car did not catch on with most of the public. With todays gas prices its a solution available today ! Its about half the cost of a hybrid, but gets 40+ mpg ! A great value. I was surprised how peppy this car is for a fuel efficient car.
Favorite Features
Cost, mileage, high up visibility for a small car, some small cars feel like a sled. I like the center console, good acceleration and nimble. Reliable, never needed a repair.
Suggested Improvements
Front seat could be more comfortable but its acceptable. At highway speeds, 80+, stability is affected by cross winds, within the speed limit its fine. I think they have HD sway bars for this in later models ?
