2014 Toyota Corolla S Plus 4dr Sedan (1.8L 4cyl CVT)
Bought this 2014 Corolla S Plus in Dec 2013., I Traded in a 2010 Corolla S.
I have noticed Many improvements over the 2010 Model, I really like the CVT Trans. over the Manual.
I had a Manual in the 2010 and I did test the Manual in the 2014.
I am very surprised at the superb acceleration of the CVT over the Manual, The Engine revs. high and stays high in the power band through all gears up to 70+ mph.
It is quite impressive & fun! Don't waste your time on a Manual, get a manual trans. in a sports car with a V-8 & feel the power there. Do yourself a big favor & Test drive all the Corolla models, you will see a significant difference in Handling and performance when you get to the S & S+
I have the S+ Model as noted: The Little 1.8L puts out good power and acceleration AND good passing power in the CVT Trans, (I should note that I use Premuim Gas in it and it does make a difference in performance), Great fuel economy if you don't have a heavy foot, Paddle shifters on the steering wheel are a novelty, sort of fun but ultimately unnecessary, Rear seat leg room is good, Handling/Cornering are very good, visibility is good, Instrumentation & cabin controls are good and with easy view & reach. The 2014 model has a longer wheelbase and this does improve the ride and handling. Trunk space is great. Toyota did reduce road noise significantly in the 2014 model over the 2010 I had.
Would be nice if the Heater warmed up quicker, it takes a good 10 min. at least. The Etune Audio system takes some figuring out, definitely have your dealership go through it with you and explain all the features in detail, there is alot there.
Don't waste your money on extended warranties, this is a quality well built machine, and the mfg. warranty it comes with is perfectly fine.
Also the maintenance plans they sell are a waste of good money unless you absolutely don't want to touch or do anything yourself on it for a few years.
IF YOU can Do a few simple things yourself like check the fluids and change the oil you will save alot of $$ on any Car, BUT never forget or neglect it.
