2008 Toyota Corolla LE 4dr Sedan (1.8L 4cyl 4A)

Review

I've driven it for 11 months now. 2 months after the purchase power steering started leaking. I had to replace rack and pinion. Acceleration is very slow, but the car maintains the speed pretty well. My fuel economy is about 30 mpg with 80/20 highway/city driving. Because of the awkward rear design, I find it hard to see what's in the back while parallel-parking. The turning angles are too sharp for the car this size. This car also lacks folding mirrors and power seats. Anyways, I think Corolla is a good entry-level car to drive short distances in the urban environment.

Best Features

Auto lights.

Worst Features

Folding mirrors, power seats, exterior design is bland.

1/. I don't understand how the Steering Rack in this model could leak ?? - unless it was an old stock earlier model because the 2008 Corolla DOES NOT have Hydraulic Power Steering or,HAVE ANY OIL to leak anywhere IN THE ENTIRE STEERING SYSTEM. It has electric Power steering which is activated by a small electric stepper motor. The Steering Rack is lubricated with Moly grease which does not flow out of its own accord - The only time a dampness may/will occur is if a Rack Boot splits and that would be virtually never on a near new car. Unless a Rack clip came undone and the end of the boot came off - In which case the rack end need only be washed with solvent, repacked with grease and the Boot refitted or replaced as neccessary. But, no OIL will escape from the Rack anywhere because there simply isn't any within. 2/. Power Mirrors were fitted to several Corolla model variants which include LE models. They are electrically Retractable via a button on the mirror adjustment/control panel - which is one button touch to have the mirror either completely retract parallel with the body or, press again to have it return to outward position.
