Review of the 2005 Toyota Corolla

  • A solid economy sedan that many will purchase on the basis of name alone. Next to its peers, though, the Corolla costs too much and lacks personality.

  • Safety
  • Pros

Refined and roomy interior, excellent gas mileage and crash test scores, long list of safety features, spunky XRS model, illustrious reliability record.

  • Cons

Awkward driver-seat position, bland personality, gets pricey when even basic features are desired, sedan body style only.

  • What's New for 2005

A sporty new XRS model debuts boasting a 170-horsepower engine and a sport-tuned suspension. Additionally, all Corollas receive a restyled front fascia and rear taillights. The LE model now has Lexus-like Optitron instrumentation, along with a cloth-trimmed center console and sun visors. Side curtain airbags, stability control and a JBL audio system are all new options.

Most reliable car i have

by on
Vehicle: 2005 Toyota Corolla S 4dr Sedan (1.8L 4cyl 4A)

I have owned a lot of vehicles and have put a ton of miles on them. However, my 2005 Corolla has been by far the most reliable among all of them. I bought it brand new in late 2004 and performed all the required maintenance myself. What stands out about this car is that I drove it 178k miles before ANY repair was needed. Very few cars have performed that well. It ended up being the intake manifold gasket which what I hear from others, it one of the few things that go wrong with this car. I have averaged 35 mpg in 65% highway driving. I handed it down to my son but still drive it on occasion. Still going strong with 182k miles. Toyota has come close to perfecting this vehicle!

Great car to keep for

Vehicle: 2005 Toyota Corolla S 4dr Sedan (1.8L 4cyl 4A)

This is my first car I bought and so far I love it. My mother had 3 corollas and loved them all. Great car if you like to save on gas. Cheap to fix. I love my 2005 corolla has a sporty look with spoiler and grille guards on the side. I drive a manual corolla it kind of takes long to accelerate when going up on a hill but runs great. I really recommend buying this car you won't regret it.

Great little car

Vehicle: 2005 Toyota Corolla S 4dr Sedan (1.8L 4cyl 4A)

I drive 1000 miles a week every week and I bought this car for economy but was pleasently surprised with the S model for the improved exterior and interior. I have a white one and it really stands out. The real value to me was how little it cost to upgrade to the S model. I have 28,000 miles on the 2005 car already and it just purrs right along.

Nothing better for the money

Vehicle: 2005 Toyota Corolla S 4dr Sedan (1.8L 4cyl 4A)

This car is a masterpiece. For the price, you'll find nothing better. A perfect overall commuter. A perfect show car if you want to put the money into it. Ride and handling is superb. Plain models are quite ordinary but the S class model changes the entire car completely! It turnes it into an affordable sportscar. And now that cars are all growing within their class, this car is not as small as it once was in the 90s. Upgrading this car is a breeze if your into that. Only recommendation is that anti lock brakes be standard or at least standard for S class models minimum. Other than that, it stays true to its reliability record.

Great car

Vehicle: 2005 Toyota Corolla S 4dr Sedan (1.8L 4cyl 4A)

I bought this car because I drive for work. I get on average 35 mpg and that is city and highway. Four-cylinder but it has get up and go when you need it. I definitely recommend. Also recommend getting the steel reinforced doors as an extra safety feature.
