Corolla is more sporty, better pick up speed, you can take exits at faster speed than camry, its steering wheel is lighter especially compared to Camry 20011 which i rented and drove few days back. I sold my camry 1999 but would say without any doubt it is lighter to drive especially its steering wheel as compared to new 2011 camry. I rented for two weeks toyota corolla 2011 and for ... Love my new corolla... its got a smooth ride, got a great music system, gives great mileage... everything my 1996 Infinity G20 didnt have - which btw in my opinion is a junk car which gave me nothing but trouble. Have only driven 400 or so miles in the past 2 weeks ... Planning a road trip on July 1st... cant wait.
There isn't a single forum here where someone isn't detailing their woes with a particular vehicle, be it Toyota, Honda, Ford, GMC, etc. Fewer people step up to say how much they love their vehicle. Me....I don't love any vehicle! They are a necessary evil. I'm a native New Yorker, displaced to Florida where I either drive or stay home. Public transit is nearly non-existent. So I have no loyalty or ... Read More
You didn't say if the noise is from the front or rear brakes or both. I would speak to the service manager. Usually noise can be a result of dirty parts, vibration, or even cheap parts. Providing all parts are clean an upgrade to better quality pads/shoes and a thorough inspection of involved parts should quiet your brakes. Of course this assumes nothing mechanical or defective is involved. I bought a ... Read More
Is there a significant difference in quality between a Toyota that was assembled in Japan vs one that is assembled in the USA? I am in the market for a used Toyota and am choosing between two Corollas--a 1994 model made in Japan and the other a 1996 made in the USA. Should this be a factor in my decision in which one to choose?
Hi, thanks for letting us know about your meeting, I would be interested in going in on a class action. It is unfortunate, but of course, toyota reps wants to come back with it is a rock chip or whatever because they dont want to be responsible. Both my chips came when, as far as I can determine, my car was in the garage (1st chip); and parked (2nd chip) in ... Read More
I understand totally...I was 21 once, myself! My idea of fun half a lifetime ago was driving down I-35 in my old Ford Maverick with both windows cranked down (you DO come to appreciate power windows when you get older...trust me) doing 80 and pretending I had a convertible! These days I don't need all that much excitement! LOL I guess I'm becoming more European as I get older.. BTW, I ... Read More
Okay, once again, sorry about that, because I left out a MAJOR part of the deal. I had a trade for which they wanted to give me $500.00. I took it to another Toyota dealership and they also wanted to give me $500.00. It was a 1996 Toyota Corolla, 166,000 miles, but the roof was dented in. It almost looked like somebody had bounced a basketball on top of it. Also ... Read More

Yes the Wagon will never make a comeback because in today's age it is the land of crossover vehicles. The Toyota Corolla Wagon became the The Toyota Corolla Matrix. While the Camry Wagon was discontinued in 1996. Later Toyota came out with the Highlander which is basically a Crossover Camry wagon. But today the word "Wagon" hurts sales so they slap another name such as Matrix, Highlander, Vibe, and etc. In ... Read More

tokash: Great story, thanks for sharing it. I just bought the same Corolla, same color and options from Hurlbert Toyota in Stratham, NH. However, I did get the AB - antilock brakes. I'm having the same issue with our new 05 corolla. We had a spoiler installed on it so I suspect that something in the wiring is fubared. Did you get your problems fixed? If so, what was your fix?
Mike, I am having the same issue with my 1996 corolla, although we never got to the point of replacing the solenoid. when I realized that the fuse was blown I replaced it, and for the past three weeks have had to continue to do so. I spoke with an all asian repair shop ( NOT A DEALER), and they basically told me that there is a short SOMEWHERE (big surprise), ... Read More

Hi, Here is my question, how do I tighten my emergency brake for a Toyota Corolla 1996? Yesterday I took my car in to Les Schwab to have all 4 tire changed. After, I took the car for a spin and parked it. As usual, I lifted the E brakes and noticed how far it came up. I had it tightened more than three weeks ago and as I recalled, it ... Read More
I recently found a link to a website on here. It was something like: pressrelease.toyota.com or something like that. On the site it had all of Toyota's models like the camry, corolla, etc... with a history of each car. It listed the significant changes to the car year by year. Like what changed from 1996 to 1997. And talked about each new generation of all the models. Does anyone know the ... Read More

Thats exactly what I think. Kill the stupid Matrix and Echo, give us a real Corolla HB with an sporty version like the FX16, give us a GT-S coupe, an XLE sedan with available NAV, Head Curtains, bigger engine and tires, and switch the S model to an SE, along the lines of the Camry's SE trim level. Toyota has its head in the sand, and if it doesnt start producing ... Read More
Hi all, My name is Joe and I live in Pasadena, CA. Last night I finally purchased a charcoal metallic (moonshadow as they call it), '03 Corrola Type S after much researching, calling around dealers all over Southern California, and actual going to the dealerships. Since we purchased our 2003 Corolla LE in July, there has been an intermittent rotten egg smell. Took to dealer at 1130 miles. Was told that the new cars had a whole new clean air system and "that just means it's working." Ran MPG test on our own and only got 30.4 MPG. Took back to dealer at 1996 mis. Told them we felt the smell and low MPG were related. ... Read More
I bought a new 1996 Toyota Corolla for my daughter when she graduated from high school and went on to college 400 miles away. Oil changes have been done every 3K and tires rotated every 5K. I just noticed today that the 1996 and 1997 Corollas have different door panel designs. What is up with that? Why would Toyota have changed it in that model's last year of production? The 1996 has a padded area just below the window and has more cloth. The 1997 model is more like the 1998-02 generation door panel design.
Hi everyone- i need some help for a friend of mine who owns a 96 Toyota Corolla LE- in trying to find out what could possibly be causing a rubbing/clanking noise under the front left wheel area- under the hood by the drivers side. this noise happened before and the dealership gave her first- new brakes and then a new differential. the noise disappeared, but about 9000 miles later the noise ... Well according to the public (you all) the 2003 Corolla is very good and should do well in competition with the Civic. Toyota expected this so they have made the ability possible to ramp up production higher than previous models. Hi, how much would you pay for a 1993-1996 Toyota Corolla with maybe 70,000-100,000 miles on it? We are looking for a car for my son. We dont want to spend too much. background: This vehicle first experienced problems about four (4) weeks ago. The engine would not crank. Panel lamps came on, but no click from the starter assembly. Initially, the vehicle would not crank. It was determined that the ignition wire "AM1" ... Read More

If Toyota does what it has done in the past, then you can expect the Japanese/European corolla being carried over to the U.S. That's what Toyota did for the current Corolla, they introduced it in 1998 when it has been out since 1996 in Japan. The 2003 Corolla looks truely impressive. I would be very happy if they just carried it over from Japan to U.S. It's longer, taller, roomier, more ... Read More
