    I bought a nissan sentra about 5 years ago and immediately changed the oil to synthetic. I have changed the oil religiously every 7-8 thousand miles with synthetic oil car runs great. I have 1995 chevy truck and a 2000 hyundai elantra which I did the same and all these vehicles run great. I just purchased a 2002 toyota corolla le and I am going to synthetic oil changes immediately.

    Hi, I'm Justin and I live in Farmington, MI. I own a 1995 Toyota Corolla DX w/ the 1.8L 7AFE and manual transmission. Faded original red paint. Over 220,000 miles now. Replaced the alternator a few times. Added bigger headers and complete exhaust. Iridium plugs and better wires. Short shifter, front strut tower brace, springs, struts. Take it to Toyota dealers and they can't find anything wrong with the powertrain.

    Ok try this ck the connection on the coolant temperature sensor with a voltmeter that tell the computer the temperature of the coolant.The coolant temperature sensor may be your probelm for the stalling. Make sure the coolant full. Change the thermostat if you have not done that yet.

    you can try two things to may fix your probelm. one is ck to see if flasher in your fuse box is any good. two tap the cover behind steer wheel see if it act up.

    Yes. Mechanic already checked everything and most of parts are new/been replaced except for distributor. He thinks the distributor is the cause of the stalling.     Has the fuel filter ever been replaced? Replace ALL vacuum lines-cheap! Check your catalytic converter- maybe broken/clogged. Have you replaced OX2 sensor/ HTH.

    Greetings,my daughter's earlier model Corolla had the same symptoms---very frustrating finally undone the earth wire on the body/inside mudguard cleaned it and re tightened. Problem now gone. Did I make a good choise? I would appreciate receiving some comments about the Corolla, especially that year if possible. I don't know to much about cars and it's my first one and I'm a bit scared.

    i'd have to concur with mcdawgg: alternator. i replaced two in my '95 corolla. a solid vehicle otherwise. technically, the second alternator was a re-built of unknown pedigree. you can go to an autozone and have them put the alternator and battery under a load test. since your battery is new, you'll probably have no issue there. most likely, alternator. that said, i suppose it's possible the ignition switch could be ...     Yes, 70mph = 3,000 rpm in that generation Corolla manual tranny. I do not think that is too high, when you look at Honda, Nissan, etc. and their similar cars have well over 3,000 rpm at 70mph. Toyota gears for efficiency and quietness, so it is generally lower compared to other manufacturers.
