1993 Toyota Corolla 4 Dr DX Wagon
Review
My mother purchased this car new in 1993. We took road trips in it all the time and put major miles in to it along with my mom driving it all over for work. In 2002 I bought it off her when the car was at 195K miles as I was having my first boy and again my wife and I have put on 50000 more miles. Currently 242000 and it still going strong. We have changed two water pumps(164k,240k), rear (210k,240k) and front struts(220k) and that is about it besides a few belts and other normal maint. still gets 30+ highway mpg and ~24 CITY mpg. I thank God that I actually bought it from my mom instead of just getting another used car. We took a 9hour trip in it in the dead of winter and it worked great.
Favorite Features
Reliability, nice peppy 1.8L engine means it goes quicker than you think a corolla wagon would. decent stereo, huge cargo space when seats fold down,
Suggested Improvements
Seats are horrible. Have to put a pillow underneath for any drive over 1 hour

The Best!

1993 Toyota Corolla 4 Dr STD Sedan
Review
I purchased my '93 Corolla new for just over 13K. Best money I ever spent. Over 12 years later it has 238,000+ miles! I've done regular maintenance, oil changed every 2500 miles and tire rotatons religiously. Had to replace parts such as the clutch, 3 alternators, a starter etc... Original exhaust still! Nothing unusual though. I'm considering a Matrix now. Will use another dealer though. I did not like the one I bought this car from.
Favorite Features
Rock solid Reliable! good gas mileage, avg 35 MPG.
Suggested Improvements
None.

"OL' RELIABLE"

Review
I can't help it if I have to keep praising my experience with my very dependable 1993 Corolla! There's no doubt in my mind that it was the BEST choice of a low-cost and reliable means of transportation in the world. Other than just an instance of a cracked exhaust manifold and a loose battery connection/terminal, my Corolla just will NOT quit! Whether it's through the hollows of Appalachia or out in the desolate western High Plains, it can be counted on to take me just about anywhere. Although I had purchased this Corolla with about 35,000 miles, it still keeps going after 300,000 miles added on over the years (currently just over 335,000 miles)!
Favorite Features
One of my favorite features of my 1993 Corolla are the very comfortable seats, as they are just right for proper lumbar and thigh support without being too plush or too hard. Another favorite is the 5-speed manual transmission! Better acceleration and better fuel mileage are the clear advantages.
Suggested Improvements
My Corolla has some problems, particularly the hardware and integrity. A rattle or two can be heard (forgivable due to a new design/carbody beginning in 1993), as well as a few electrical glitches (dome light doesn't work since I've purchased the car). Also, the 1.6-liter engine is somewhat weak.

Incredible Corolla

1993 Toyota Corolla 4 Dr DX Sedan
Review
Bought this car from the dealer with 12000 miles. It now has 185,000 miles and has had 2 repairs. It still gets the same 38 miles per gallon as when it was new. It is a pleasure to drive and very comfortable for it's class. It has never failed us - not even once.

I too am the lucky owner of a Corolla DX sedan and I can safely say that it has definitly been one of the best automotive investments that I've ever made. The 1.8L engine is pretty snappy for its size, and the manual transmission is very smooth. No major repairs save an alternator and a starter but that was after I had driven it for over 90K miles! I've owned this car for 11 years and it never ceases to make me proud to own it.

My '93 DX has been an AWESOME car! We purchased this car used (3 years old) with 32,000 miles on it. It's now at 269,000 miles and running strong!!! Minor repairs have been done on it over the years, and regular maintenance. Well worth the money spent on it!! If you have the chance to buy one of these cars used that was taken care of at a low price, snap it up... I can can bet you'll get your money's worth. I definately will replace it with another Toyota.

This corolla is almost eleven years old and has 185k miles and runs like a top. Only routine maintenance and an alternator for repairs over the time I've own the car. Purchased new, one owner, driven by my wife and myself and still gets 35+ mpg on a weekly basis with and automatic transmission. Glad I bought it but will purchase a larger car next time . . . a camry.

I have had my corolla for 6 years. I have had very few problems with it for its age/mileage. I am currently in the market for a new car and I am going to purchase a new corolla. You can't beat their quality and durability.

the fact that at 134,000 miles it is still running so well.
