I decided to buy the after market K&N airfilter for my 2008 Solara 4cyl. At $45 it was the price of 3 Toyo Denso filters but lasts for 100's of thousand miles with proper maintenance so I went for it. There is Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) out that addresses front end shimmy on some 08 Solaras. Check this out as it may be the root of your problem. My wife has had a '99 Solara, and she now has a '06 Solara SLE-V6 coupe in black. She loves them. Me, not so much but they are a good car, dependable, comfortable and powerful. I do think more females than males buy Solaras; but so what? I think the "chick car" stuff is BS spouted by insecure males. There is talk the Solara will be discontinued in MY 2008 or 2009. An individual who states he works on the Camry/Solara lines has heard that the Solara coupe will be discontinued in August 2007, however the convertible will continue until September 2008.
