There is Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) out that addresses front end shimmy on some 08 Solaras. Check this out as it may be the root of your problem. I have a 2006 Solara 6 cyl. and there is a problem with the car hesitating. My example is: When your in a parking lot and coming up to a speed bump, you have your foot on the gas and then take your foot off the gas (slowing down a little)to go over the speed bump, you then put your foot back on the gas to accelerate - THE CAR HESITATES! I just got a brand new (16 miles) '08 SE Convertible for $23,950. It's the dark metallic gray (the color I wanted), and came with the auto V6. So far, I'm loving it. It's my first convertible. An individual who states he works on the Camry/Solara lines has heard that the Solara coupe will be discontinued in August 2007, however the convertible will continue until September 2008. I don't have too much faith in Costco/AAA pricing - but it can be a very good starting point. I helped my cousin with buying a 2007 Toyota Camry. We asked for the AAA pricing and one of the dealers offered us around $300 over invoice - but didn't have any stock.
