Toyota Camry 2006 and earlier

2005 LE I-4

I was fortunate to find a six month old Camry LE (private owner) with 9k on it in 2005. Today (3 Nov 09) I have 61k on it and it has been a great vehicle. I did have the steering intermediate shaft lubricated (Service Bulletin T-SB-0296-08) and it stopped the clunking noise during slow speed turning and it seems to handle a lot better (psychological). The cost was $200 ... Read More...

Toyota Camry Security System, Remote Start and Keyless Entry Questions

Keyless Entry Stopped Working

I have a 2006 Toyota Camry XLE. I bought it in December 2005. Recently I noticed that the keyless entry fobs have not been working as well and when used I would get more than 1 beep from the car when it used to be just one. I changed the batteries in both and they were both working sporadically and now they are not working at all. I changed the batteries again but no change. ... Read More...

2007 Toyota Camry Problems and Repairs

Re: My 2007 Camry XLE [djm2]

I guess we're just polar opposites! I recommend (and practice) avoiding the dealer entirely except for warranty work. I do all the routine maintenance myself except for jobs above my skill level, patience, or lack of suitable tools or equipment, in which case I pay a reputable independent shop to do it (not the Quickie Lubes or tire or department store chains). ... Bought 2010 LE for $19,288 on 8 August 2009

As another follow-up to AU74 post . . . Just yesterday (Saturday) I bought the Red Camry at the Chambersburg Fitzgerald dealership that he mentioned. I paid the Internet price of $19,288. The window sticker on this car was 22,850 including shipping and 200 for the floor and trunk carpeting. So I paid 84.4% of the window sticker. This is all before taxes, license, ... Read More...

Toyota VVT Oil Line Problem

I live in Canada, and I recently took my 2005 Avalon in for an oil change. While performing the oil change, the staff at the dealership identified and advised me of a leak in the VVT oil line. They also advised that the line could burst, draining the engine of oil and possibly causing engine damage. I was advised that I should not drive the vehicle, and left it at the ... Read More...

Toyota Camry Warranty Questions

Warranty on Exhaust System (Front) / Catalytic Converter

Could anyone help me on this? I bought a used 2001 Camry CE in year 2005. I had no idea about the separate emission warranty until now. I failed my state inspection in MA last year (Setp. 2008, around 70K miles) for the bad catalytic converter. However, i never got the check engineer on. I went to Toyota dealer and replaced the catalytic converter, which costed me ... Read More...

2009 Toyota Camry

Re: V6 or I4?? [guntherhops] V-6 hands down - it much quieter & smoother [paul3637] [berri]

I had the previous gen Camry V6. ... Even with premium though, I don't think it quite meets the Lexus specs. However, I never got better than 27 or so on the Interstate at 70-75. In town it got 16-17. I have the 3.3L V6 in my 2005 SE. Last summer I got 28.5 mpg on a 2600 mile trip by watching my speed. On the same trip two years earlier, I got 27.5 but I was driving slightly faster ... Read More...

Toyota Camry Engine Related Questions

Re: 2005 Camry engine rattle [collegeguyjxn]

I have a 2006 camry with 71000 miles. That is exacty what I took my car in for. It started abruptly a few days after routine maintenance. Brought it in-it is a blown head gasket. Dealer says it's an engine defect. Fortunately I bought the extended warranty (expires in 4000 miles) and it's covered. You might have to fight Toyota on it. Read More...
