Much More Than Expected
By camry_fan on
2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid XLE 4dr Sedan (2.5L 4cyl gas/electric hybrid CVT)
The 2012 Camry Hybrid is outstanding.
Comparing it (from many test drives) to the Fusion, Optima, and Sonata hybrids, overall it is the best in terms of quality, performance, comfort and on par with all in terms of fuel economy. The Camry Hybrid is quiet, solid, comfortable, and moves when you need it to. Total quality. After 2700 miles, a solid 38.3 mpg avg cty/hwy.
Entune infotainment is great. I was originally set on an Optima.
After seeing repeated negative owner comments for noise, seating,
performance, maintenance I started looking elsewhere.
Furthermore, complete piece of mind. No worries about salesperson & maintenance competence or manufacturer quality as with Kia and Hyundai.
Ride comfort, quite ride, handling, ergonomic layout, quality of materials, performance - fuel economy and power.
Minimally perceptable activation of the gas engine.
Using Entune/Bing to locate and navigate to favorite places is soooo convenient.
Acceleration (at any speed) is very impressive, much more than expected and better than most comparable class cars including V6's (better performance and better mileage = worth the $$).
Trunk space is more than adequate.
Plentiful space for all occupants. Blind spot monitor has grown to be a useful/welcome feature.
Ability to configure the split screen display is nice.
Vehicle is sensitive to crosswinds.
For obvious safety reasons some of the infotainment features are locked out when the car is in drive.
Would be nice to allow the passenger to utilize the capabilities.
A small compartment in the rear seat arm rest would also be nice.
