While I've only had this car for barely 60 days, it is my 2nd Avalon XLS and I'm very pleased. My 96 gave great service with virtually no engine failures of any kind over nearly a five year period. I didn't hesitate to buy another one, only this one new.
Hands on controls on steering wheel. Ease of access to fueling point, "inside" CD changer instead of trunk. Comfort, fit and finish seems better than earlier model.
After driving 2 Chrysler 300's previous to owning this Avalon, I am particularly impressed with the overall quality of the vehicle. Lots of small and some big problems with the Chryslers, but none with the Avalon. I continue to be amazed by the fuel economy of this large sedan. I consistently get 29 to 31 miles per gallon on the highway at speeds of 70 mph. I have actually gotten 33 mpg on two trips.
Incredibly quiet on the highway and in town.
Eliminate the reclining back seats and make a full pass through to the trunk.
2006 Toyota Avalon Limited 4dr Sedan (3.5L 6cyl 5A)
Believe it or not, traded a Prius for the Avalon due to long drives and increased comfort. It drives like a dream compared to the Prius. Also had a G35, and like this one much better. Think the interior could be quieter, but haven't found a car yet that was as quiet as I thought it should be. Compared to every other car in the price range and several more expensive and this is the only one that had all the features that I was seeking. Also got the Special Edition Package and looks much more sporty.
Extending front seat, telescopic steering wheel, sliding console armrest. Handsfree bluetooth phone.
Storage at a premium with the DVD Navigation system. Incoming calls do not mute radio as in Prius (may be possible, haven't been back to dealer yet to ask). Transmitter range much more limited than the Prius.
