Re: Need Advice [popsavalon]
but if your Camry is a V6, 2005 or later, it applies Not sure that is accurate. The Camry didn't get the 3.5L 2GR V6 until the redesign in 2007. The Avalon was the first Toyota vehicle with that engine starting in 2005. Read More...
Re: Need Advice [jlsexton]
I'm not sure if you are asking for more info on the VVTi oil line problem for your vehicle, but if your Camry is a V6, 2005 or later, it applies. To get the latest info, go to topic, "Toyota Avalon Engine Questions" and read the messages from #334 up. The web page identified as "oil line scandal" is a summary site for most issues related to this problem (all Toyota 2GR-FE ... Read More...

Rubber V Metal:Camry/Avalon going same route as Delta88 and Cutlass Supreme
Fast forward ten years: it appears that in the year 2020 it will be as embarrasing to drive a Camry or Avalon as it is to drive a 2010 Buick today. Looks like only Ford is getting it right since their repair record is exceeding Honda & Toyota (Honda Accord's $250 rear brake pad replacemnt every 15,000 miles problem is the number one issue on carcomplaints.com) and ... Re: Need Advice [popsavalon]
Popsavalon: In response to my complaint of a ticking noise in the engine, the diagnosis for this 2005 Avalon was "found rear engine lifter starting to collapse. R-R rear engine cover and replaced lifters and gaskets." The TSB that addresses the engine ticking sound is TSB 0094-09. I think it was issued in March of this year but I'm not sure. The dealer who did the ... Read More...

Re: 2000-2004 vs 2005-2009 [55396]
As one who has owned an Avalon of each generation, let me assure you there are differences each five years. Most things improve because it's a Toyota. But not everything, depending on what you need in a car. The post from *tjc78* is very accurate. The '03 seats were a lot more comfortable on long trips than my '07 Limited seats are. But the power train, gas mileage ... Read More...
Re: 2000-2004 vs 2005-2009 [55396]
I went from an '03 XL to an '06 XLS. The extra size was't a big deal for me. If anything it was a plus. IMO the only thing that the '03 had over the '06 was the seats. They were bigger and more comfortable to me. Other than that the '06 was fantastic, more power with better MPG, slightly better handling (although still soft) and great features. Also, the Toyota 2GR V6 is ... Read More...
2011 Avalon?
While searching on Yahoo, I came across a site that handles fleet management of various motor vehicles. This site has "revised" Toyota build-out and start-up dates of various 2010-2011 models (as of August 5, 2009). According to the information on this site, Toyota plans to release a 2011 Avalon in Febrary & March 2010 (around the same time the current 3rd generation ... Read More...
Re: 2011 Toyota Avalon? [ntassistant]
It would be a disaster if Avalon will be discontinued. I have 2005 Toyota Limited and love this car. Since it's more than 4 years old, I started looking for a new car. I test-drove Lexus 360, Mercedes S class, Audi and have to say that I feel more comfortable in Avalon. If Toyota add / change a few things, I would buy another Avalon. The main thing to change is the Navigation. ... Read More...
