2001 Toyota Avalon XLS 4dr Sedan w/Bucket Seats (3.0L 6cyl 4A)

Review

Bought with 21,000 miles. Now at 113,000, same brakes. Only one problem with faulty sensor, 27 mph on highway, 23 combined city/hwy. I sold my 97 mercedes after many problems. I would consider a 2005 avalon, except it uses premium fuel. This is the best car for the money I have owned. I am 6'4 and have more room than the Mercedes. No loss of oil after 5,000 mi between changes, oil is still honey colored. All I do is rotate tires and change oil. How can you not love this car?

Favorite Features

Seating comfort, multi informational read-out on dash. MPG. Lots of power. Re-sale value higher than average.

Suggested Improvements

They did all the improvements in 2005. Its a Lexus without the $$$.

2001 Toyota Avalon XLS 4dr Sedan w/Bucket Seats (3.0L 6cyl 4A)

Review

Waited till retiring to buy my special car. It is wonderful. Roomy, quiet (hard of hearing but no problem in the Avalon), smooth, reliable, safety features outstanding.

Favorite Features

Quiet interior and roomy space.

Suggested Improvements

Somehow keep the steering wheel from blocking the driving displays. Allow ash try closure when something plugged into lighter. Window defroster on auto is sometimes confusing to set properly.

Review

Toyota really shot down their reputation with this car. I've been a mechanic for eight years and never saw a Toyota with such poor quality and reliability. It was a great car until it hit 20k. The couple of sensors were going bad; burning way to rich, alternator, compressor and power steering pump. My 87 7MGE Supra had less problems then this car. This was my 6th Toyota and my last. Toyota isn't building the cars like they used to.

Review

Everyone who's been in my Avalon has commented on it's comfort, space, sound system, quiet and smooth ride and best of all...performance! Couldn't be happier!

Favorite Features

Quick pick up on inclines, comfortable, lumbar seats, great JBL stereo, room trunk area.

Suggested Improvements

musty smell in the A/C was the only thing I've really had... had it serviced and it works good now.
