I've driven my Avalon for six years
after buying it used, driving on a
combination of high speed freeway and
beat up lousy DC streets. The car is
bulletproof. No mechanical problems at
133,000 miles. Never replaced timing
belt. People get in the car, cross
their legs in the back seat, and
ask, "what is this car??" Used two
different Toyota dealers over this
time, but neither was worth a damn.
Luckily the cars don't break, so you
don't have to see them much.
Reliability. Great family car. Great
value, no need to pay for Lexus until
you feel like paying for even more fun
and performance. Smart match of
gearing to 3.0 V6 means great punchy
acceleration and good fuel economy.
Huge interior and trunk.
Wind noise is a bit excessive for what
is otherwise near luxury car. Not a
tight suspension, this is really a
cloud car with reliability that kicks
butt on US cloud cars. Exterior paint
may be a bit soft.
