Best I have ever owned

Purchased my Avalon Hybrid 2 weeks ago and cannot believe how Toyota developed a "near perfect car". During the first week, after being completely blown away at the overall quality, inside and out, the gas mileage was a shocker!! The first tank of gas delivered 47.7 MPG. Now on the second fill-up and am averaging 44.6 MPG. Driving has been mixture of highway and city/town. WOW. What a surprise. Great value!!

With a new business requiring 140 mile round trip 5 days a week, I had to get a vehicle with great gas milage. I am a big guy and wanted something comfortable and able to haul people when needed. Had my sights on the Camry Hybrid and test drove it. Was ok but kind of blah sitting next to the Avalon. Decided to try the Avalon Hybrid as well. Comparably equipped the touring Avalon is about a 5k dollar upgrade but that is a great value! Interior and exterior styling is a huge improvement over the Camry plus some great extra features like the side mirror monitoring that lets you know when car is in your blind spots on freeway or multi laned roads.

For the last 9 years I've been driving my Sweet BMW 5 series and what a joy it was to drive on a daily basis. The power and road feel was superb but the maintenance was starting to get excessive. I have never owned a Toyota anything... The technology that is engineered in this vehicle is utterly amazing. I love the Hybrid engine and transmission, its really quite astounding. The car handles well, it has excellent low end electric torque. When driving in econ mode the entire hybrid system takes control and superbly enhances the Avalon's fuel consumption. The car is quite and has good rad feel.

A Lexus in Toyota Clothing?

What an amazing car. My wife and I took our '11 Avalon in for service and drove out with the '13 Hybrid. We drove Prii and the Camry Hybrid and there was no comparison to the Avalon Hybrid. Smooth, quiet (quietest car I've driven at 70/75!), handles much more securely than the '11, lots of room, great job on the interior making it both inviting and sporty. We were concerned about the CVT trans and the power and boy were we proven wrong. Not as strong as the V6 but pretty darn close. Transition from gas engine to electric is seamless and no 'rubberband' feel like on many CVTs. . Visibility is excellent. Overall a superb upgrade to the previous model and an excellent upscale sedan!

This is my initial review of a 2013 Toyota Avalon Hybrid Touring model, after three days of driving it. I love this car. It's huge – about the size of the Jaguar XJ VDP s/c it replaced, with a bigger trunk, too. It's the quietest car I've ever driven, too. How Toyota coaxes 40 mpg out of this size car, and still makes it scoot, is a mystery. It's got gobs of low-down electric torque. Even though 0-60 is around 8 seconds, real-world it feels much quicker than that. In-gear passing is stupendous – no waiting for engines or turbos to spool up, just mash the throttle and watch the mph climb. Styling: all subjective, of course, but I like the new design. Has a bit of Audi A7 in the rear.

I have owned a MB and a BMW convertible for the past 17 years. They both used premium gas and were fun to drive and handled great. The seats were comfortable, too. My new Avalon handles almost as good, the seats are even more comfortable (hugging me), and it does not use premium gas. The new electronics and technology is super. It takes several weeks to get to know how to use it but it is worth it.

This is not your grandpa's Avalon

The redesign of the Avalon for 2013 converts it from essentially a rock-solid dependable geezermobile to a rock-solid dependable vehicle that appeals to people of all ages. It is flat-out gorgeous inside and out, the paint colors are incredible, the build, fit and finish amazing. The leather interior, formerly vague-looking and spongy, is now edgy and supple. The car really gets about 40 mpg on a dependable basis if you drive in Eco mode and aren't a leadfoot. It has an absolutely cavernous rear seat space, and all of the controls and features are ergonomic and well thought-out. This car, completely redesigned from the ground up, is an absolute triumph of industrial design.

I purchased a Toyota Avalon Unlimited 2013 Hybrid February 2013. We have driven 3,740 miles and we are happy with our purchase. We have been averaging 37 to 40 miles per gallon. In March 2013 we drove to Phoenix, Arizona. We traveled 1566 miles round trip on 41 gallons of gas. We got 37 to 40 miles per gallon of gas. Drove 75 mph and 80 mph when the speed limits allowed it. Had plenty of power to zip in and out of traffic. The ride was comfortable and smooth. Great performance! Fun to drive!

Better than Lexus

Test drove Lexus ES350 and Toyota Non-Hybrid Avalon. Lexus was nice but I liked the interior of Avalon better, felt more spacious inside. I also thought ride was better with hybrid. It felt more button down to the road vs Lexus. Overall, I love car's quiet cabin yet the handling is very taught. And there is slight whirl sound when you are braking but I think that sound makes the car almost like its from the future. I am glad with the purchase and I recommend this vehicle to who are considering other similar cars in the segment.

BEST CAR "EVER"!!!

I have always been a Toyota fan. Have had 2 Avalons, a Lexus, Highlander - and we presently have a Prius. For some unknown reason, I recently purchased a 2013 Nissan Altima with all the "bells and whistles"- a real mistake (see review under Nissan Altima)! To make a long story short, after 6000 miles I traded it in for a 2013 Toyota Avalon Hybrid. I am blown away by this car. It is, by far, the BEST car I have ever owned. Beautiful, inside and out, a head-turner, GREAT gas mileage, OUTSTANDING quality, EXTREMELY quiet - I could go on and on! Toyota took a huge leap with this car - and, as all the reviewers say, they have themselves a winner!!!
