Awesome
Vehicle
2006 Toyota 4Runner Sport Edition 4dr SUV 4WD (4.0L 6cyl 5A)
Review
This truck is absolutely amazing! I've wanted a 4runner for a while, and I def don't regret this purchase. I've put about 30,000 miles on it (55k total miles) and zero, zip, no complaints. The x- reas suspension on the sport edition makes it handle and take corners like a dream! Super quiet inside, almost zero road/wind noise. 200% quieter than the competing models. Zero mech problems and the v6 has plenty of power. This is my daily driver and also has been on many camping/fishing/snowboarding trips and has yet to meet an obstacle it can't overcome.
Favorite Features
X-reas suspension, power rear window, off road capability, breaks are the best of any vehicle I've ever driven. The bigger breaks on the sport edition really shine, and if you're an aggressive driver like me great breaks can be a life saver.
Suggested Improvements
Stock stereo system leaves much to be desired, if you like music you should probably upgrade to the jbl system (wish I would have) this is really an awesome vehicle, you know when the stereo is the only complaint it's a good sign.

A near perfect SUV
Vehicle
2006 Toyota 4Runner Sport Edition 4dr SUV 4WD (4.0L 6cyl 5A)
Review
My daughter drove an older one and was hit by a speeding car running a light. Her 4runner sacrificed its own life to preserve hers, she was shook up but unhurt. My bosses daughter rolled one off an embankment from an icy road. She was shook up but unhurt. He was so happy he went out and bought her a brand new one. I know the accident reviews are good for this truck, but we believe they are way understated. We believe it to be one of the safest in the world today. This high quality full frame, (not unibody) truck is one of the few true off road vehicles left. With its low range gearing and its "positive 4 wheel lock" it is a stand out in a crowd of crossovers and halfway vehicles.
Favorite Features
Off road capability, rugged good looks, reliability.

Excellent Truck
Vehicle
2006 Toyota 4Runner Limited 4dr SUV 4WD (4.7L 8cyl 5A)
Review
After searching for 4 months, I just bought a very low mileage 4 Runner with every option included. It is seriously amazing. I had a 2000 4Runner and got rid of it and got a 2004 Land Rover Discovery. This was a big mistake and I'm glad to be back inside a Toyota 4Runner. The driving performance is incredible as it drives like a sports car and handles like a truck. The reliability of a Toyota is first cast and the maintenance is much cheaper than a Land Rover, BMW, etc.
Favorite Features
Navigation System, 4wd, V8 engine, quality of car, back up camera.
Suggested Improvements
More head room.
Greater Than I Imagined

Read all your reviews before I purchased and they helped a lot. Once I bought the vehicle and actually got behind the wheel as an owner and then discovered what it can do, I'm so happy. I wanted the v6 for the gas mileage thing, but got the v8 full-time 4wd edition and here are the real world stats... On the highway and 65 mph and under, 25-27.7 mpg. Yes, really. Was going to get a Lexus GX-470 (built on the same platform as the 4Runner and at the same factory in Tahara, Japan), but decided on the 2006 4Runner instead. Whisper quiet. Not as fancy of an interior as the Lexus, but all the important elements, performance and reliability are the same. What a great car.

Great all around Vehicle

2006 Toyota 4Runner SR5 4dr SUV (4.0L 6cyl 5A)
Review
Never have had a repair or adjustment made. Factory tow package easy to use and preforms well. Very steady feel on the road. Handles well at interstate speeds and eats up the open road. Long trips are easy and bad weather driving is secure.
Favorite Features
Tows very easy, lots of power for a v6.
Suggested Improvements
Side mirrors that pull out for towing.

Best Vehicle I've Ever Owned
Vehicle
2006 Toyota 4Runner Sport Edition 4dr SUV 4WD (4.0L 6cyl 5A)
Review
I just passed my 3 year anniversary with my 2006 4Runner Sport and the build quality on this vehicle continues to amaze me. (knock on wood) To date I've not had a single repair item, the only service work I've had done are oil changes and regularly scheduled maintenance. Totally awesome even by Toyota standards! For a mid-size SUV the 4Runner is as good as it gets with a strong V6 motor, adequate mileage, great styling and comfort and the awesome reliability that I previously mentioned. For the first time in a long time I'm 3 years into a vehicle and I'm not thinking about unloading it for the next bright shiny thing that catches my attention. It's a beautiful thing :) !!
Favorite Features
Roll down rear window, styling, strong V6 motor that doesn't suck gas, comfortable seats, great ride (once you upgrade from the stock Dunlops which are just ok - I put Michelin Cross Terrains on mine and it now rides like a dream).
Suggested Improvements
More headroom - I'm 6'3" and I'm barely making it with the sunroof. Better stock stereo system - for a mid 30k vehicle the stock stereo in mine left a lot to be desired. Toyota puts a better stock stereo in the 15k Scion than in the 'runner.

Can't Get Better Than This
Vehicle
2006 Toyota 4Runner SR5 4dr SUV (4.0L 6cyl 5A)
Review
I have had this vehicle for three years and, at 80K plus miles, I have not had a single mechanical malfunction. It drives great and has great roadability. It is easy to maneuver, even in small/tight spaces. The driver sits high and this provides great overall vision of your surroundings. In regards to quality, can't beat Toyota's quality or dependability.
Favorite Features
Firm seats and handling. This SUV handles very well for its size.
Suggested Improvements
Placement of the MP3 connection should be more convenient. Located inside the center console, it is a bit tedious to get to.

After 3 Years
Vehicle
2006 Toyota 4Runner Sport Edition 4dr SUV 4WD (4.0L 6cyl 5A)
Review
Last post was 9/6/2006. Nothing has changed except the gas mileage has improved from 19.5 to 21 mpg combined. Absolutely zero defects after 3 years and 36K miles. Best of all, my wife still loves it. It is the best vehicle, new or used that I have owned during the past 43 years. Wife wished we had bought leather with heated seats but the cloth is great. Handled great on snow and ice the past 2 winters. Plenty of power, great handling, and visibility. Still looks like new.
Favorite Features
Rear cargo area with rear fold-down seats. 4WD handles the ice like a champ. Handling, visibility, and appearance. Reliability and power. Power seats and sun roof. Radio controls on steering wheel. Fog lights work great.
Suggested Improvements
None.

Very nice truck

Review
Always had Jeeps before. Bought this 4Runner and I have to say that I'm very impressed. The 4wd system can run in 4wd on dry pavement, or you can run it 2wd. Locking center differential is electronic, so you don't have to worry about the transfer case binding on dry pavement (since it can be turned off). Interior room is very good, low, flat load floor in the rear is good, and ease of putting rear seats down is easier than the Jeep. The v6 is an excellent choice with plenty of power, and decent towing capacity for small jobs. I like the driver instrumentation and the stock radio has an MP3 player capability. Good fuel economy with the v6. Avg. 19-20 mpg.
Favorite Features
Rear Load floor, easy of putting rear seats down, V6 engine, 4WD.
Suggested Improvements
The seats, though supportive could be a little softer - though they have very good adjustability.
