    I read your post and I have to laugh at the dealer comment. Odds are, your dealer screwed up and pulled the tranny drain plug during an oil change. If it happened at Folsom Lake Toyota where my issue occurred, I wouldn't be surprised. "FLT" left my engine two quarts low and tranny two quarts over. I'd bet dollars to donuts your dealership caused the problem.

    I am experiencing the same problem with my 2005 4runner. Try looking under the 4runner maintenance and repair board. Some of those guys have found a fix for this problem. I wanted to be arm with some info to be able to explain this to the toyota dealership. Hopefully, since they are a 5 star dealership, they will listen to me and take me serious. :(

    I have a 2005 V8 4WD with 24k miles. At my 15k service I had 90% left front and back. Most of my driving is freeway and I do tend to be easy on breaks. My Isuzu Rodeo went 150k before I insisted that we do the front pads.

    You have an aftermarket alarm. Either the selling dealer or someone else installed it. Hopefully you can pull the fuse for it and still have your factory alarm. My 2003 came equipped with a factory alarm. Although I see it's optional on 2005 models, I've yet to see any 4Runner from 2003 forward that doesn't have a factory alarm.     Good advice. And change the oil and filter after the first 1,000 miles, too. I like Mobil 1 5W30 and a Toyota filter at 1,000, 5,000, 10,000, 15,000, etc.

    I contacted Toyota today, it seems that the 2006 4Runner will hit dealer lots in September 2005, here in New England. I am waiting to buy the 2006 V8 Sport Edition, it also appears that Toyota may limit the quantity of V8s on the lots, because of rising fuel costs.
