2004 Toyota 4Runner SUV Sport Edition Rwd 4dr SUV (4.0L 6cyl 4A)

Review

I wasn't really sold on the design of the 4 Runner until I drove it. I test drove every mid-size SUV on the market, this was by far the best. It has good acceleration (for an SUV) and it handles really well. I have taken it off road several times, and it handles everything. It's a really solid truck.

Best Features

Great 10 speaker JBL Synthesis system.

Worst Features

Need to find a different fabric to make the roofing out of, everytime something touches it there is a permanent scratch in it.

Review

Third 4 Runner, Last was a 2000. Have owened 4x4's since 1969. This by far the best engineered and best built car of it type I have ever owned. Interior: Bucket seats are excellent.Added sheepshin covers to releive the heat/cold of leather seats. Controls are easy to see and operate. (The Inst. Manuel at 401 pages, well...) The A/C is good, not excellent. The CD player is hard to operate if Area Nav is installed. A plus is the mini cam in the rear. Paking it much easier adds to safty as you can see see that no child is behind you. Forward visability is excellent. Rearward is poor. Without the mini TV, backing up would be an adventure and dangerous.

Best Features

I have the V-8 and the ability to pass or get into fast moving traffic is a joy. The V-6 is underpowered. The rear mounted mini TV, almost a must The increased fuel capasity and the angle of the filler which makes it much easier to fill up.

Worst Features

The Fog lamps are a joke.Hard to tell if they are on. They should be yellow not white, mounted higher. Will upgrade when after marked lamps are available. Rubber strips on bumbers to prevent mini scratches to the paint. Make cloth seats availablw. Leather is nice but not practical.

Review

The ride is really comfortable compared to the Ford Explorer (which is what I traded in)

Best Features

Sun roof is wonderful...and I love the way the back window also rolls down. And I almost forgot the gas information panel is the BEST!

Worst Features

oscillating vents and a divider that would keep boxes from sliding around in the back of the SUV. Things roll out when door opens. Something removable that can slide up and down similar to cover that hides everything stored back there would be very pracitcal and look good

Review

Well, I am 16 years old and this 4Runner has great pick up, you do not need to buy the expensive stereo to get great sound the basic is just as good as the rest, i dont even know how i did that? This SUV rides very smooth, my brother has a Highlander and the 4Runner compared to it is much better, if your looking at the Highlander go for the 4Runner, trust me you will regret it if your dont. the highlander V4 and the 4Runner V6 get basically the same milage around 16 or 17 mpg.

Best Features

stereo controls on the steering wheel, wireless remote to put down the rear window (easy for loading quickly, traction control(saved me from an acciedent)

Worst Features

miles per gallon (I cannot wait for this to be a hybrid it would sell like crazy) [P.S. DO NOT EVER TRUST WHAT THE STICKER SAYS FOR GAS MILAGE FOR ANY CAR OR COMPANY BECAUSE THEY ARE ALWAYS WRONG, I RESEARCHED THAT THE WAY THEY TEST THE MPG IS OVER 30 YEARS OLD AND INACCURATE]

Review

This vehicle is great! Japanese engineering with American wants and needs built into it. Large enough to handle the average American family, yet it has the quality and reliability of an import. My 4Runner looks great and runs even better.

Best Features

Powerful V6, smooth running engine and tranmission, low road noise for an SUV and full of standard features like tow package, Fog lights, running boards, etc.

Worst Features

Only one: Toyota suggests premium gas in 4Runner V6 and V8 motors. (I run mine on regular gas with no problems)
