2003 Toyota 4Runner SR5 Rwd 4dr SUV (4.0L 6cyl 4A)

Review

Just returned from a 4000 mile road trip with kayaks on top, bikes attached to a hitch rack, and it was fully loaded. The six cylinder has loads of torque 283 and plenty of horsepower as well, 245. It is fun to drive, exceptionally comfortable, and handles extremely well.

Best Features

Hill start assist for starting on steep inclines. Awesome power and performance. Lots of easy access to storage throughout the vehicle.

Worst Features

We have a slight rattle in the moon roof which warranty will take care of. Otherwise we love it...

2003 Toyota 4Runner SR5 Rwd 4dr SUV (4.0L 6cyl 4A)

Review

Really wasn't looking to buy, but after a test drive I found myself sitting at the table with a salesman working on numbers. I was impressed with the new V6 engine and the quietness of the cabin at speeds. Vehicle had all the features we were looking for which came standard.

Best Features

New V6 Engine pick up, comfortable seats, Trailer hitch, great bold look.

Worst Features

I wish the interior dash (radio and AC) lights were brighter during the daytime. Fine at night though.

2003 Toyota 4Runner SR5 Rwd 4dr SUV (4.7L 8cyl 5A)

Review

Bought this vehicle over a 2003 Pilot, which was hard to find in the right color and cost $2,600 more. My drive out price w/ lighted running boards, the appearance pack., and auto-dimming rear view mirror was $28.1K. The car came with a bad tire (Michellin CrossTerrain), which was promptly replaced by the dealership, but no defects so far. For dollar for dollar, this is one of the best value vehicles in the category. Glad that I got the V-8 over V-6, as the difference in fuel economy is minimal, but the bigger engine is so quite, smooth, and powerful.

Best Features

Great drive & transmission combo (v8+5sp auto.)

Worst Features

1) There should be a handle on the outside surface of trunk door, to make it easier to grab and shut close the heavy door. 2) The seat cushion is too narrow.
