2003 Toyota 4Runner SUV Sport Edition 4WD 4dr SUV (4.7L 8cyl 5A)

Review

Have owned the 2003 4Runner since last November, and have continually been impressed with it. The price was fair, it's built closer the way a SUV is supposed to be built (solid frame, sold axle(s), ground clearance, low range, limited slip, etc), and it can tow a decent amount. I've been off-road a few times, and it performs well. I've towed a good number of times, usually about 3500 pounds, and it does so without complaint. It's a highly recommended vehicle on my list. It should be noted that we did experience a length list of early- production problems.

Favorite Features

V8 power, stout frame

Suggested Improvements

Would be nice to have max torque output at a lower RPM. Also, interior could stand to use a lot less painted plastic.

2003 Toyota 4Runner SUV Sport Edition 4WD 4dr SUV (4.0L 6cyl 4A)

Review

Everyone that rides in it says it feels like a luxury car. I got it for it's awesome off-road abilities but it is the best of all worlds. The ride is very comfortable and doesn't lean in corners. My Sport Edition comes standard with XREAS. The quality is rock solid perfection and reminds me of Lexus; and not the cheap Lexus but the level of the RX330 and above. I have not had one problem with the truck. Not even a rattle or squeak- even while off-roading.

Favorite Features

Power rear window, 250hp V6, DAC, full skid plates, great seats, overwhelming sense of quality. 7500 lbs. tow rated hitch. Great on-road handling.

Suggested Improvements

For some reason Toyota set it so that the vent is automatically on recirc everytime you start the truck up. The headliner is on the cheap side.

2003 Toyota 4Runner SUV SR5 Rwd 4dr SUV (4.0L 6cyl 4A)

Review

Just returned from a 4000 mile road trip with kayaks on top, bikes attached to a hitch rack, and it was fully loaded. The six cylinder has loads of torque 283 and plenty of horsepower as well, 245. It is fun to drive, exceptionally comfortable, and handles extremely well.

Favorite Features

Hill start assist for starting on steep inclines. Awesome power and performance. Lots of easy access to storage throughout the vehicle.

Suggested Improvements

We have a slight rattle in the moon roof which warranty will take care of. Otherwise we love it...

2003 Toyota 4Runner SUV SR5 Rwd 4dr SUV (4.0L 6cyl 4A)

Review

Really wasn't looking to buy, but after a test drive I found myself sitting at the table with a salesman working on numbers. I was impressed with the new V6 engine and the quietness of the cabin at speeds. Vehicle had all the features we were looking for which came standard.

Favorite Features

New V6 Engine pick up, comfortable seats, Trailer hitch, great bold look.

Suggested Improvements

I wish the interior dash (radio and AC) lights were brighter during the daytime. Fine at night though.
