Good SUV But Needs Some Refinement
Vehicle
2005 Suzuki XL-7 LX 4WD 4dr SUV (2.7L 6cyl 5A)
Review
As one previous reviewer noted, the Suzuki XL7 is one of the best kept secrets in SUVs. I purchased mine fully loaded for almost $5K less than the sticker price. It is a very comfortable car to drive and hasn't given me any problems yet, but the engine is only adequate and gas mileage is poor. Some of the features on the XL7 leave a lot to be desired as well. You need an engineering degree to figure out how to fold down the center seat, and the steering wheel mounted auio controls are so inconvenient that it's easier to reach over to the radio.
Favorite Features
Standard antilock brakes and auto temp control air conditioning. Very good ride and competent handling.
Suggested Improvements
Engine power and gas mileage. Eliminate the useless steering wheel audio controls. PLEASE redesign the back seat to make it easier to fold down for cargo!

I talked to the service department at my dealership.I asked them what car they have the least problems with. They all said hands down XL-7.So that's what i bought; the only thing it goes to the shop for is oil changes. That's why i've owned three....
Favorite Features
It has alot of takeoff power. very comfortable. looks sharp inside. Woodgrain dash, kicking stereo.
Suggested Improvements
Keep the power going up.Bigger gas tank!

Review
My wife loves her's suv. But, the interior is so cheap. My wife bought the SUV while I was away in Iraq. I would have spend the extra the money and bought a nicer SUV. But, already we are having problems with the interior. We had to call Suzuski for 3 months to get the tech to approve the work on the car. finally the tech looked at the SUV to ok the interior. So, we could have the car fix. Yesterday, we found an problem with the interior.
Favorite Features
The SUV does handle well on long distance travel.
Suggested Improvements
Suzuski spend the extra money an improve the interior of the car. It shouldn't take three month for the SUV to be looked at for the repairs.

2005 Suzuki XL-7 EX III Rwd 4dr SUV (2.7L 6cyl 5A)
Review
I have only had my vehicle for about 1 month but so far it has been my best. I actually enjoy driving again. Would highly recommend to anyone.
Favorite Features
Great stereo, controls on the steering wheel are a big plus for me. Steering wheel is very easy to make yours. All of the controls in this vehicle are made with the consumer in mind. Love all of the standard extras. Smooth drive, can't say enough about this vehicle.
Suggested Improvements
The only improvement I can think of is the third row seat, short of room. However, any change to this would probably change the vehicle. I look at the third row as my small people seat. Would also like the back door to have two sections so it can be opened without opening the entire door.
great suv

Review
this is the most overlooked vehicle, and I can't understand why. this thing goes and goes and only asks for gas and the regular oil change. I think it's the best looking SUV around. unlike other so-called suv's, this things a real truck, with a ladder frame to prove. tough as nails. yet a great ride, smooth and comfortable. i'm almost glad more people dont buy them, because mine stands out in a crowd of minivancarsuvs that would snap in half if driven the way this truck was built to drive.
Favorite Features
a five speed manual transmission with rear wheel drive. how could anyone think front wheel drive is an suv? would anyone buy a pick-up with front wheel drive?
Suggested Improvements
a larger wheel-well to accomodate larger after market tires.

A reliable car

2005 Suzuki XL-7 LX III 4WD 4dr SUV (2.7L 6cyl 5A)
Review
The 2005 Suzuki Xl-7 has a more modern design than the 03 or older. One of the reasons that I bought this car was because I also own a Suzuki Aerio in which I did not have any problems. I bought the XL-7 because the price is so much cheaper than a lot of other suvs out there on the road. The woodgrain on the dashboard adds a nice touch to the interior which is standard on every XL- 7 model. The car is easy and fun to drive. The third row seating comes very handy. Suzuki's powertrain warranty (7 year/100,000 miles) makes you worry- free.
Favorite Features
steering mounted audio controls, 4WD at the push of a button, standard v6, power-mode selector switch to increase power when going on hills, tire pressure monitoring system.
Suggested Improvements
It would be nice if all the doors locked when you put the gear in drive, good to have digital compass.

Review
I extremely enjoy the smooth drive of my 4WD Suzuki XL-7 after driving a front wheel drive vehicles for the last 13 years. The vehicle as equipped, with everything is a great package. The sound system is outstanding! I particularly enjoy the heated leather seats. A comparable mid-size competing SUV would have been considerably more expensive. The XL-7 has sufficient power, but cannot compete with the 3.0 engines the competition offers. This vehicle takes me where I want to go comfortably and with all the luxury of a more costly vehicle. I'll forego the power for the luxury.
Favorite Features
Heated leather seats. Stereo and speaker system. Aluminum wheels. Moon roof. 4wd on the fly, just press a button. Braking system.
Suggested Improvements
Improve 2.7L 6 cylinder engine.

A little bit bigger would be great, but for its price, it's just right.

2005 Suzuki XL-7 EX III Rwd 4dr SUV (2.7L 6cyl 5A)
Review
This vehicle is the best I have ever had. I've had many other vehicles from various makes and models, but this by far is the BEST.
Favorite Features
I love that I can change my radio stations without taking my hands off the wheel. The heated seats are a plus during the winter. Love that it feels like I'm driving a car instead of an SUV, but when needed, I can turn on 4WD and go anywhere!
Suggested Improvements
My only suggestion for this SUV is that the driver leg room isn't as large as I would like. Though I fit, it would be better to have a bit more width when driving.
