One of a Kind - Fun to Drive
Vehicle
2004 Suzuki XL-7 EX III 4WD 4dr SUV (2.7L 6cyl 5A)
Review
I have ownedmy 2004 Suzuki XL-7 for eight months and have had problems with the rear end differential and CD changer and problems with the 4x4 disengaging. Other than that, I really like driving it. The 4x4 does not disengage properly when the tempurature outside is less than 30 degrees, which is not a good thing in Minnesota. I get 16 -19 mpg and the gas tank is too small, so I spend a lot of time at the gas station. The engine is underpowered for the vehicle.
Favorite Features
This truck has a great turning radius, steering wheel controls, and heated seats and side mirrors. The 3rd row seats are comfortable. It has one of kind looks and a good view of the road. Sometimes I forget I am driving an SUV because it handles like a car.
Suggested Improvements
Increase the gas mileage by 5 to 10 mpg. Design a 4x4 that functions properly in the cold weather. Make the headrest solid without the square hole in it and the seats a little more comfortable. Tint the rear windows darker so everyone cannot see right in.

We have owned our Suzuki XL-7 for 1 1/2 years. The reason I bought it was the warranty, the design, and the trade in deal they gave me. It feels very solid and handles well, I am 6 feet tall and there is a lot of headroom. I think the XL-7 could be a bit longer, but it is adeqaute with smaller kids. We have the 3rd row seat which is very tight. If the SUV was a foot longer the 3rd row would be a bit more pratical. We bought out XL-7 with 6,000 miles on it for $20000, $15,000 with our trade. The dealer gave me $5,000 for a 1994 Ford Explorer Limited with 99,000 miles on it. My wife likes the size of the XL-7 and finds it easy to navigate. She feels safe driving in snow with the 4WD.
Favorite Features
The dash board and rear storage.
Suggested Improvements
The front console could be a bit narrower and the XL-7 could be longer for more leg room.
I love it!

I love this SUV! I've had it a year and I still enjoy it. The only thing I dislike about it is the rear door. If someone parks to close to you, you can't open it, as it swings out instead of up.
Favorite Features
Controls on the steering wheel. Carseat latch system
Suggested Improvements
Spare tire needs to be put somewhere out of sight, it is difflecult to see out of rear window because of it. Also rear door opens out instead of up, so the door gets scratched a lot by the garage door. Also if someone parks close to you in a parking lot, you can't open it.

We like our XL7, it's good for a small family, not really for seven grown ups. Other then that, I love it. it's got 4x4 and does have the extra seating if you need it. It's better for two adults and two kids, than anything else.
Favorite Features
the 3rd row when needed, auto temp, stereo
Suggested Improvements
Better gas mileage, a tad more room in the 3rd row to make at least comfy for along ride

Okay But Needs Improvement
Vehicle
2004 Suzuki XL-7 LX 4WD 4dr SUV (2.7L 6cyl 5M)
Review
As midsize SUVs go the Suzuki XL7 is a bargain. Mine stickered for almost $23,000 but with discounts got it for only $17K. Considering you get automatic temperature control air conditioning, CD player, cruise control, and antilock brakes in the deal that's not too bad. I've put 11,000 miles on it and have had no problems. The build quality is quite good and the doors sound solid when you shut them. The driving position is comfortable and it performs reasonably well except in high winds. The gas mileage is much worse than I would have expected in a 6 cylinder midsize SUV, and the engine could use more power.
Favorite Features
Build quality, driving position.
Suggested Improvements
Needs a more powerful engine and better gas mileage. Make the rear seat easier to fold down-it's way too confusing. Lose the steering wheel radio controls-they're so inconveniently placed that it's easier to reach over to the radio and adjust it.
I Like My XL-7
Vehicle
2004 Suzuki XL-7 EX III Rwd 4dr SUV (2.7L 6cyl 5A)
Review
My 2004 Suzuki XL-7 has been a reliable and fun to drive truck. 3The 3rd row seats are not particularly roomy, but serve the purpose when we need to carry a few more kids. Its ride is a little harsh, but not jolting, and this is an "SUV". It handles and rides much better than most of the big truck-based SUVs I've driven. My milage was a little less than I had expected, but still better than most trucks. I suppose that the aerodynamics play a part in that.
Favorite Features
Styling, sound system is excellent, fun.
Suggested Improvements
You can not find a better value in a SUV

I actually did not plan on buying this vehicle when I visited the dealership. I sat in one on the showroom floor and was amazed. Our other vehicle is a 2003 Ford Explorer Limited and for a mere $9000 less the XL-7 blows it away. The only option missing is power seats. Fuel economy is a little lower on the highway than rated but most of my travel is above 70 mph. Overall it is a quiet smooth ride. There are no options on the EX version, everything is standard.
Favorite Features
6 Disc changer is great, steering wheel audio controls are great, heated seats are a must for Ohio winters, and the push button 4wd system is great. Handles exceptionally well on snow and ice. Very good headlights and foglights.
Suggested Improvements
Better fuel economy, power seats, better rear window wiper/sprayer, better subwoofer(this thing has a 4" woofer and it sounds like it), and temperature readout separate from the clock. These are all minor items but for the $25K price tag I really can't complain much!

Great SUV For The Price
Vehicle
2004 Suzuki XL-7 LX 4WD 4dr SUV (2.7L 6cyl 5M)
Review
I bought my 2004 Suzuki XL-7 a year ago and absolutely love it. Like others I looked at Toyotas but couldn't afford to get into the $30,000 range. This XL-7 has a car type ride and you can feel the road very well. I must also say there is not much road or wind noise. Its interior is designed very well, although it could be a tad bigger, as sometimes you can feel squashed. I have had 3 SUV's, including a Toyota 4-Runner, and I would take the XL-7 over them any day. I paid $19,200 for this vehicle with automatic climate control, heated mirrors, cruise, tilt, etc. I suggest you drive one before settling on any other SUV.
Favorite Features
Interior and exterior design, and of course performance.
Suggested Improvements
Definetely need to improve the braking system, and it could be a touch wider, other than that it's great.

Review
This vehicle needs a wider wheel base and extended flaps on visors to block drivers eyes from sun only. Everything else is great. Maybe a back door that opens away from curb rather then to the curb. The handling is sweet, likes its on clouds. The headlights are remarkably bright. No DVD player tho for the wife n kids??? Honda Odessy has one up on you. Ever consider getting rid of the "7 passenger" title to make more leg room and rear storage?? try it, you might be surprised.
Favorite Features
Paint, dash design, Seat comfort, steering is acceptional and I also like the style of the alloy wheels.
Suggested Improvements
driver visor extension for when the visor is 90 degrees out, up against side window, sun still hits my eyes. DVD package for kids. How about a bucket rear end for groceries to sit DOWN into, rather than ontop of back of seats??
