Yes, this just happened to me -- I was braking at a stop sign and the car lurched forward, and wouldn't stop, and almost hit the car in front of me. Then the brake responded. The engine again surged while in park a few days later. I have a 2008 SX4 which I only purchased 2 months ago from a used dealer. I took it to a Suzuki expert tech and ... Read More
Very pleased with my 2008 SX4 purchased summer 2008. It's fun to drive, steering very positive and the manual trans is very crisp to shift. The mileage isn't great but I new that when I bought the car. The AWD IS great. I have to go up a hill to get out of my neighborhood regardless of what street I use. When it snows here I always go up the steepest ... Read More
My dear irate sir...try to calm down. When you bought the car, the expected mileage was printed in big numbers on the window sticker. The mileage is actually quite good for an AWD car...you will be hard pressed to find any other car with AWD and all the features this one has that gets better mileage. And if it was stellar mpg you wanted, why did you choose an SX4? The ... Read More
So why did you buy the car? The gas rating is published. Many have posted about the lower-than-other-similarly-sized-cars mileage results here. The size of the gas tank is not a secret and is available in all the literature and online resources. Instead of talking about your own experience with the airbag light, you talk about others' comments on forums. How about waiting until you get the car back to see if ... Read More
I bought an AWD 2008 Suzuki SX4 wagon last July. Both the salespeople and the service folks assured me that it would be making 28-30 mpg after the engine broke in. Now I've got 6100 miles on it and I'm still only getting 21-25 mpg. BTW, this is from my calculations, NOT from the Instant Mileage/Average Mileage indicator on the dash. I really don't drive like Mario Andretti and I cannot ... Read More
Just yesterday I took a rare short trip (156 miles round) in my 2008 SX4 crossover, and since I just phoned in my statistics-haha- to my husband, he figures 33-34mpg. These were all interstate miles and I used the cruise control ALOT (set at 70mph). I mainly use my great little car for back & forth to work (only 2 miles each way), so needless to say it doesn't have many ... Read More
I have a 2008 Suzuki SX4 sedan auto. I would like to purchase the flip up screen device that the 2009 models have on top of the dash to put my Garmin Navigation unit in. The dealer says it will be an option in maybe January 2009 but doesn't have a price on it yet. Does anyone know where I can purchase one of those at now? Thanks, Gk
2008 SX4 Sport, convenience package, auto , fwd. got 32mpg on second tank. 85% hiway driving at avg 70mph.
Sticker was 18,595 before I added the Wide body side mouldings and Center Armrest. They still sold it to me for 17,500 and I had the 500 coupon from the Autoshow in Cleveland. Took the 0% financing for 5 years (why not use their money) and my payment is under $300 a month :) Ganley Suzuki in Lakewood, OH ask for Laurie she was Great to work with.
Okay, I've had my 2008 Suzuki SX4 Crossover with Touring Package and automatic transmission for about 5 months now, so I'm ready to post my full review: Summary Pros: Looks, handling, AWD, comfort, visibility Cons: Cabin storage, gas mileage As background, I should point out that the previous cars that I’ve owned and driven were a 1999 Mazda Protégé (manual) and a 2005 Mazda3 hatchback (manual). Over the years in my ... Read More
What is the valve clearance for the 2008 SX4 2 litre engine?
I have not compared its interior to anything else- except my other vehicles-but I have no problems with mine. (yes, pretty basic -even in my opinion) But I think of it as this: its not a Escalade either! I still think its a good value car for the money- especially when I'm not sliding around the hills of Pittsburgh in the snow and that I can pass a gas station more ... Read More
What is your opinion of the quality control of the interior? I went for a road test..saw the plastic around the seat looked like it was ready to fall apart..decided against it;how do you feel about how it is put together? I have a Prius and an Odyssey and the interior on both are flawless !
Yes, we do have a TON of hills in Pittsburgh! Unfortunately, so far this year we haven't had hardly any snow! (And trust me, I lived next to a ski resort outside of Buffalo/Erie for 15 years-so I know what kind of snow you are talking about!!!) But I did make it a point to go out in our inclement weather a few weeks ago and came up the "back way" ... Read More
I just took a test drive in the new 2008 SX4 today. I loved it, but I'm curious, I live in a very hilly region in Upstate NY. Some of the grades are quite steep and there are times in the winter when I couldn't get up them even with a 4-wheel drive. The problem was the 4-wheel was a 2002 Kia Sportage, no power and extremely lightweight. Living in Pittsburgh, ... Read More
New 2008 SX4 Crossover w/touring package, manual trans. Car stickered @ $17,400.00. Bombarded every Suzuki dealer in the area till I got what I wanted....Utilizing $1,000.00 factory cash back, plus another $500.00 factory coupon from Boston autoshow and some serious negotiations, walked out of dealer (less reg. & taxes) for $15,049.00! Stole it, for sure. I would suggest finding a Suzuki dealer that is new and trying to establish themselves as ... Read More
Gotcha! I hear ya... U bet... Black is mystery and drama. Metallic Black only makes it more so, IMHO... Good choice!!! ;) Happy Trails... Peace<-AladdinSane-<- -
As for color, I must admit I truly liked them all-but NEVER owned a black vehicle, so thats what I ended up with. (Though being from the real muscle car era, I don't think its a true black, has more metallic in it) I looked at the white, but with our four seasons here in Pittsburgh, that was out! I didn't want blue, the red would have been hard to match ... Read More
I'm glad for you! My Lady and I have 5 vehicles on our list to check out, with the AWD Suzuki SX4 within that small group. I see that even at Jeep the salespeople can be tuned out, as you said about your husband's experience. Wotta shame, don'tcha think? The turn off he experienced at Jeep turned into a blessing though, with the purchase of your SX4, so a lemon becomes ... Read More
Yes,the warranty was a factor, as was the AWD.(Living in the snow belt) I really did the research, looking for initially a 4WD, but wanted to keep the $ down.( I did drive the Grand Vitara but the seat did not fit me comfortably.) Plus, we don't do the "long hauls" like we used to, so this little critter suited me well. (With gas prices as they are!) I also know ... Read More
Hi... I'm glad you dig your little critter of a Suzuki. I'm interested in it too, but I'm curious: Did the warranty of this machine turn you on to it also? How was the dealership, and your saleperson's attitude in the transaction? Probably all good, I suspect. Nothing like the bad attitude one can get at a Honda or Toyota dealership, I'm sure. Know what I mean? It can be like ... Read More
Went to by my very first new car on Halloween night, and ended up with this little car- and have not been dissapointed! Now granted, I am only 4'11" , but my 6'3" husband can fit in it too. The back seats aren't really made for the long haul for adults, but my grandkids can fit just fine. I think its a very zippy little thing that is great for around ... Read More
Labor Day was yesterday and I went on a car hunt. Bought a 2008 SX4 w/ Touring II Pkg AWD. I have no idea why they call it the II as there never was a Touring I. In anycase, this replaces the 2007 Sport Pkg. For color I went with a new color for 2008 SX4 called Azure Gray Metallic. Hard to describe new paint, but in general it's a Charcol ... Read More
why, you've brought up a subject that demands a good answer. Both of my Kia vehicle manuals said 7,500 miles between L-O-F changes, but I followed the old "get it done at 3,000 miles, you and your car will be better off for it." On my 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS we just went at about the 3,400 mile mark to get our first L-O-F. We bought a prepaid 3 year maintenance ... Read More
