Suzuki SX4 with a faulty suspension.
I have a 2007 Suzuki SX4 sedan. There has been a lot of noise coming out from the front left suspensions. I have changed the control arm, Ball bearings , Shock absorbers and the balance rod bushings. The 2007 Suzuki SX4 has
the computer sensor that will automatically "sense" when your SX4 needs to go into AWD-Auto mode and out of AWD-Lock mode, which is the 4WD system on the car. Wow! Impreza's are a better deal in the NW. I was speaking strictly cash price. Haven't looked at either manufactures financing lately. I know my ex got a great deal this fall on her Outback... 0% for 2 years and about $1500 under invoice + rebates.

The base 2006 Impreza wagon and the base SX4 are the exact two cars my wife and I compared... got financing options and price quotes from dealers on both and over the course of 4 years the Impreza was $5,400 more... based on better financing and base price the SX4 was about $100 less a month over 48 months. Actually the real world prices between the SX4 and Impreza are much closer. Until the Suzuki prices really drop the Impreza is a better deal. (Let the discounting begin.) At least the SX4 is better looking.

I guess what is affordable and attainable is completely relative. The SX4 can be had for under $15,000. I think the Impreza comparison makes the two cars closer to $4,000 apart in price, which means the Impreza costs 25 percent more than an SX4. That is hardly a fair comparison. For someone on a budget, the near $4,000 price difference could mean a monthly payment of more than $100. For a ... Read More

'07 Impreza wagon can be had for well under $18k and gets nearly the same gas mileage as the Suzuki. Impreza has full-time AWD, 173 hp, and is one of the safest, most reliable cars out there (plus great resale). The Suzuki's a hard sell in comparison, at least to me. Not sure if the SX4 has any advantage beyond the $3k price difference.

Well... there are some real negatives to the SX4. If you need AWD and a low price it's a pretty good car. If you can live with FWD and want better fuel economy there are a lot of better choices. I'll probably pick up a cheap used one since they depreciate so much.

I just read the recent Motor Trend test on the SX4. They didn't get it either. The MT writer missed the fact that the car has so many standard features. Also the acceleration tests were better than many of the other small cars they tested. 0-60 on the 5-speed was in the low 9's and the quarter was high 16's and over 80 MPH. bottom line: the review really seemed overly negative on the car. It seemed to harp on the acceleration, which, BTW, means nothing to my wife. There is so much more to cars than how fast they go when you floor it. Unless you're looking at a Dodge Magnum R/T, I think that acceleration should be low on the list. as far as power im not suprised to read the quart mile and 0-60mph results. when I test drove a sx4 automatic i thought it was way underpowered for what the Horsepower specs claim to be. That is what hit me about the 2007
Suzuki SX4: how small it is in person. It looks like a subcompact, but really small, almost like a Mini. Gotta tell ya, though, that only endears the car to me more. It is a real looker and I think that the Suzuki AWD system will hold up just fine.

test-driven the 2007 Suzuki SX4 or own one, can you answer me a question? An earlier poster mentioned that the gauges in the dash are "black on black and difficult to read during the day." What? Why would they not color them white on black or some other readable combination? It seems to me that I've read reviews on the car that showed easily-readable gauges. Please edumacate me!

yeah, you might just be experiencing a "manufacturer's starting difference" there. Although, a brand new 2007 Suzuki SX4 shouldn't be having any slow or "hard" starting issues already. With that top-notch warranty you can always ask your dealer's service department about it. BTW, do you trust your dealer's service department, 1999johnner?

I think that does say a lot
about Suzuki the car manufacturer, though. The fact that they are the leading seller of small cars for the last 33 years in Japan. Why? Well, The "Chevy" Tracker WAS a Suzuki product. My inlaws had a 1990 tracker, red... manual, and they got it used in Oct of 1995-Oct 99. got it with 53,000, traded in @ 217,000!!!!!!!!!(he drove 670 miles per week for work, still does, and yes, his pay is quite good,lol). is very acceptable to me as a potential 2007 Suzuki SX4 buyer, 28.7 mpg. I like that Suzuki throws in the automatic mpg counter for us, too. That was one thing the lady with the SX4 filling up at the gas station mentioned, she liked the mpg-ometer. There is usually a break-in period for engines in relation to miles-per-gallon and I doubt that Suzuki motors are an exception there. So many ... Read More

are really nice on this rig. I see that Suzuki is putting the same 16" alloys on the soon to come Suzuki SX4 sedan. I really like them right down to the 5-spoke design and lug nut design arrangement. 2007 Suzuki SX4. It is "another small patch of white space going dark" according to the C&D article. The article is right...the SX4 is different and one way it's different is the fact that one can put the small car into a separate 2WD(FWD)drive mode to optimize fuel economy. a great deal. What other car on the market for $14,999 allows you to toggle a switch and drive in FWD(2WD), then with another flip of a toggle switch go into AWD-Auto for 4 season driving? Five-speed manuals in October
I'll have to wait a few weeks before I'll get my 5-spd. SX4 with the convenience package (i.e. with cruise control). My dealership in the SF bay area told me they found out from their district rep that they will not receive any 5-spd base models until the full roll-out in 2007. Suzuki is shipping just a couple "preview" 5-spds with the convenience package to this dealership in October.

I see that as a big 'ole confidence booster to those of us who are thinking about getting one of these cars. I sort of took a hankering to
Suzuki's Burnt Orange after seeing it so much in their 2007 SX4 advertising. I also like the Red(they're not that far off from each other, at least on the net)and the Metallic blue looks very sharp on this car. I'm still pretty interested in this little pup. a problem for me. I live about a 1/4 mile from my work and I live in a little podunk town in SE Arizona. It's all in how you plan to stop for gas. Will the lack of a center armrest bother any of you? From what I've gathered the 2007 Suzuki SX4 doesn't have an armrest in the middle up front.

You have to weigh the good vs.
the bad with the new 2007 Suzuki SX4. It is a heavy little sport crossover, but not overly so. My Sportage 4x4 is heavy but the 2.0L motor and 5-speed tranny propel it well. It also has remote keyless entry, power w's, d's and m's, A/C w/Micron aircleaning system, fender flares to ward off shopping carts, self-lubricating timing chain that will last probably as long as you own your car(it should last 150,000 miles, my own estimate there), 4-wheel disc brakes and ABS w/EBD(Electronic brake force distribution) all standard. I sure hope the Impreza looks better then the current one! Subaru got the 05 Legacy right but the snout noise Tribeca is UGLY. Here's to the hope that Subaru goes for a clean look. It will be an interesting comparison, especially considering price.

Hrm. I had high hope for the SX-4, and it still looks like a good car, but I think I'd hold out for the '08 Impreza. I was hoping the 2.0l engine and light weight (200-300lbs lighter than the Impreza) would help fuel economy significantly, but 24/29 (manual) and 24/30 (auto) are dangerously close to the current Impreza 2.5i's 22/29 and 23/30. One thing I noticed while looking closely at the interior pic is what seems to be the availability of automatic climate control. That's a very rare luxury for such a small vehicle, at least in the North American market. There was no mention of a sunroof being offered. I hope Suzuki at least makes it an option. I think this will be my next car. Has pretty much everything I've been looking for; awd, low weight, reasonable 4 cyl. (with decent gas mileage) and a stick shift. Hopefully I can get the premium package and ESP with the 5 speed. I'm looking forward to test driving it when it arrives.
