    I have a 2006 Suzuki grand vitara. On a cold start there is smell of gas coming from the vent when I turn the heat on. I check for gas leak by the fuel injectors when I started the car but did not see any. Any idea on what is wrong? Thanks

Suzuki Grand Vitara interior light keeps burning out

    My girlfriend has a 2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara and the interior dome light keeps burning out. I've replaced it three times and it's burnt out every time. First replacement, it made it a week before burning out. A month on the 2nd, and about 3 days on the 3rd. Does anybody have any ideas what is going on? Thanks!

    Here is what I found. P0101: Mass air flow circuit range/performance (MAF sensor volume is more than specification or less than specification.) It may also indicate that the MAF sensor is defective. P0401: Exhaust gas recirculation flow detected as insufficient (Difference in intake manifold absolute pressure between opened EGR valve and closed EGR valve is less than specification).     thanx for reply: yes, the codes from auto zone were P0101, P0401 and P2282. P0101 was referenced mostly to MAF sensor, vacuum leak, etc. P0401 was mostly EGR. P2282 suggested a intake manifold air leak.     thanx for reply: after my post i went to auto zone and they found 3 codes with their computer, but, when checked to their data base, no suzuki explanation of the codes showed up. just about every other common auto used these codes but, no suzuki. go figure.

    Jay, Whats the issue? Malmstrom did not go out of business for tax reasons... but for a complicated form of fraud, that stopped it's "cash" flow... hard to explain to someone not in the business. You could also try Suzuki 112 in Medford NY if you are in that area.

    yes, that is for alignment and consistancy. The vibration doesn't come from the tires or the alignment. Its from the engine. That is why the ECM flash works. Suzuki woman strikes again!

    That is the big problem with many dealers... they don't want to do anything unless Suzuki directs them to... but we fished around for an answer to the problem and the ecm flash fixes the vibration issue in 98 percent of the cases.     I live in Kentucky so the temp. isn't extreme but it does get in the 90's during the summer months. I haven't checked the insulation on the doors yet but I don't know if that's necessary at this point. Installing insulation would be a very timely task. You have to keep in mind that I travel much more than the average person so I might spend approximately 6 hours at a time (daily) driving and I hear everything.     Wow, it must be a very loud vibration! You have to flash the ECM in order to get rid of the vibration. It really isn't a hardware issue.     Sorry but this you can't do yourself. When I say reset, I don't mean disconnect the battery and allow the car to reset itself, I mean you must re-program the ECM as it is malfunctioning. The actual fix program is available at your local Suzuki dealership, if they are savy as to the fix. Unfortunately, I find that some Suzuki mechanics are not, although that is rare indeed.     The ECM is the computer man... This will eliminate the vibration. You all can adjust the drive train until the cows come home but the ECM controls the drive train and every single functioning part of the truck. You must reset the ECM. Call your local Suzuki dealer-tell the mechanic that your ECM is causing your truck to vibrate -most of them already know the fix... SUZUKI woman strikes AGAIN!

    Odd that some of these GV's could have such an obvious problem, others don't have it at all, but Suzuki seems unable to find a universal fix (no pun intended). Our JLX-L only has a very slight droning noise around 1500rpm. Certainly not something I'm concerned about, given the complexity of the drivetrain. Hope you people can get this sorted out.

    I had a second opinion yesterday; I bought my GV to my own (independent) mechanic to re-balance and rotate the tires. I he also ran an alldata check on my 2006 GV 4WD AT and found the TSB TS 04 10255. He noticed and showed me the difference in the two parts (27630-66J31), I do have the newer/updated bracket.     PS: For comparison purposes: 2006 Jeep Liberty Sport Diesel 4X4 2.8L Common-Rail Diesel, 1-4 engine 295 lb-ft torque @ 1,800 RPM, (plus all the bells and whistles that are there on the new GV). Base model listed for the same price as the loaded new GV, PLUS in Imperial measurements: 10.9L/100 km (26mpg) City; 9.5L/100km (33mpg) highway. I personaly don't see a significant advantage of synthetic oils unless it's in a high performance engine which may require it.     G'day Xostnot. Our Suzuki Grand Vitara 2006 has the standard suzuki 2.7Litre V6 engine. Mostly city driving with some photography/camping/fishing trips away in the bush/country.     The vibration is only on certain EARLY 2006 Grand Vitaras with four wheel drive and the automatic. The harsh down-shifting is only when you downshift automatically, and not manually (using the shift lever). The rear headrests are noisey when in the UP POSITION.
