Hiya, I own a 2005 Aerio Sx, with 69,xxx miles, which seems to enjoy stalling while in reverse (when shifted from park) and has a rough idle. Oddly enough, the issue seems to be alleviated when the AC is on. Any ideas as to what is going wrong? Thanks :-)
Well, as most of you probably already know, Suzuki dealships are dropping like flies. I purchased a new Aerio Premium 2 wheel drive in 2005. It has been a good little car and currently has a little north of 68,000 miles on it. A couple of little zingers but after a lot of urging on my part, the dealer took care of them. When I took it back to the local ... Read More
I have a 2005 Suzuki Aerio Wagon SX. I notice that the 1st half of the tank on the gage goes down extremelly fast. at around 100 miles my car's gas tank gage comes down to 1/2. Then, it will give me around 190 miles for the rest of the tank. I was concerned because I have never seen this before on any car and I am also thinking that I ... Read More
Tks for taking the time to post your '05 Aerio history! We too were initially impressed with our 2005 Aerio AWD, purchased new from CT showroom in Aug 05. Drove it (very carefully, following all break in procedures) from CT to FL where it is being used by our daughter. She now says it is a piece of junk! (She drove a '96 Audi A4 quattro prior, so we knew there'd ... Read More
I bought a 2005 Aerio AWD from Brantford Suzuki ..... while I was initially impressed with the service I received , as I continually brought it back for repairs, it was eventually replaced by extreme disappointment and disgust in Suzuki. I had the following happen in 15 mnths of ownership and 27,000 kms -front sway bar bushings fell out 4 times before finally getting a permanent fix. -styrofoam on rear bumper ... Read More
Tks! I am still waiting to hear from Suzuki now that the original dealer who sold me the car last year is involved. He is the only one trying to help. Suzuki in Miami and the 800 toll free customer service is intent on blaming me for not checking to make sure tires were rotated during the 7500 mi servicing which was under the new car warranty! This is just unreal ... Read More
I found out a possible solution to the rear tire problem. The original tires went bald after 10,000 miles and I replace them with BF Goodrich Traction T/A tires which I had on my Focus. I think they are great tires. When I went to have them rotated (with only 10,000 miles on them)the tech told me that they were worn on the outside edges and they may have "bad belts". ... Read More
Well, can't say yet as just put 4 new, wider tires on our 2005 AWD Aerio auto. Both rear tires completely bald at 14K and car is less than a year old, so we are faring worse than you did! Our OEM tires were also Yokahama's G046 1955515's. Had to get 2 tires to replace the rear OEM's and decided to replace all 4 as tire place said front tires were ... Read More
Re the TSB - pls tell me more as I just had flat on my AWD 2005 Aerio and being told my bald rear tires are not due to problem with the car. I don't believe them and am getting frightened about all the others with same problem. Is your car auto or manual? Ours is auto AWD. 2005 with 14K miles. Bought new in Aug 2005. Suzuki won't even tell ... Read More
Same problem as you but Suzuki blaming us for bald rear tires on new car bought in Aug 2005. Only noticed at 14K due to flat rear tire. There is a bulletin about the rear tire wear but Suzuki gets to decide which cars they will fix. Sounds like you got a bit of help then nothing. I got no help at all this week when we got the flat and ... Read More
I brought a 2005 Suzuki Aerio AWD last year as well. I have around 10k miles on it and it runs beautifully. The only hitch I had was that my dealership said that there were a tsb out regarding the viscious coupling & the camber (too much to the negative range) for the rear tires. They fixed it under warranty. And that's probably why I don't have the tires problem as ... Read More
I had the same problem in Mississauga,Ontario Canada. I smelled oil from time to time and observed a small amount on the transmission housing just below the breather hose. The first time I brought it in (I have a 2005 Aerio with 8000 KM) the mechanic changed the transmission oil (believing it was overfilled at the factory) and cleaned the breather hose. The problem reoccured after 3 weeks. I brought it ... Read More
That might be, but the Suzuki Aerio SX is a larger vehicle and when I saw the fit, it certainly didn't look like the cargo was bigger. Anyway, from your dimensions they are close. The other car I own is a 2005 Camry LE. Very nice car, however, we always take the Aerio SX for its versatility. I have packed more stuff in that car than I ever thought I could. ... Read More
I think I am at the top of the list my 2005 Aerio start with brakes problems at 1,800 miles round one ; round two 4,900 miles and just today 5,117 miles round three. The sad part is that Suzuki wants me eat the cost of pads and rotors replacement. Thats going to be round four keep you inform.
Didn't know that Suzuki added an underseat subwoofer under the passenger seat. I pulled a 2005 accessories brochure for the Aerio while I was at the dealer the other day. The company is selling a screw-in center armrest/storage bin for the car, part 99000-990YC-703 if you're interested.
Very interested in Suzuki Feeback... my daughter just "totaled" her 2002 Aerio when she ran into the rear end of a Ford Pickup truck at about 30 miles per hour last week. It had 39,000 + miles and no problems with brakes... Crappy Bridgestone Potenza's tires were replaced at about 30,000 though and I hope the new tires they put on are better. We did not have one problem with the ... Read More
Hey, I got the same problem with my 2005 Suzuki Aerio AWD. I brought it two weeks ago and it had only 36 miles on it. I have been driving for 1300 miles for the past 2 weeks, going out on a road trip. The car has really horrible gas mileage. I would say, 15-17 miles per gallon in city and 18-22 mpg in highway. I am getting the car in ... Read More
No body makes a short throw shifter for the Aerio. A company in cali used to make them, but have since stopped. I got one of the last ones made. :D
The shifter in my 05 Aerio is a little too slushy for my liking. Is anyone aware of any aftermarket short-throw shifters made for this car? TIA
The Aerio would absolutley be a reliable car to buy. I love the way suzuki builds thier cars. Except one thing, stay away from the Manuel transmissions. The automatics are very good but suzuki is well known for thier crapy Manuels. If you are planning on buying a 2005 model, that is a newer design and I dont know if that one is good or bad. But I would get an ... Read More
Nicksimon, I suggest you go ahead get an Aerio SX. I looked at both Hyundai Elantra and Kia Rio/Optima, they are not impressive at all. I do agree that Korean cars are catching up, but they still have a long way to go. People may think that Suzukis are not as good as Toyotas or Hondas, but it did survive 52 years (1953-2005) in the Japanese market and are still going ... Read More
We have owned our Aeiro for about 4 weeks! When the air conditioning is turned on it collects about 1 - 1 1/2 inches of water in the passenger side floor pan. It doesn't vent to the outside. Anyone know what to do about that?
Just sold my 1995 Sidekick 4-door. Great vehicle for all 125k miles. Sold on Suzuki reliability. The trucklet was getting old, though, and I was concerned for my wife to be driving it since due to it's age, I started to worry about safety. No airbags, no ABS, etc. Sort of tinny, and in this day and age where ABS and airbags are kind of no-brainers, I thought, hey, time to ... Read More
I'm a big Suzuki fan.(not Daewoo Suzuki, nothing against Daewoo just think they should be called Daewoo's or Chevy's not Suzuki's) I have read a lot of horror stories about brakes and rattles but the most serious is the 5 speed gearbox problems.. I personally have not had the problems that some have had. Our suzuki has been the most reliable vehicle that I have owned in the last 25 years ... Read More
Hi all, I just wanted to chime in with my experience with the Aerio SX. I use to own a 2001 Hyundai Elantra GLS (traded it in for the Aerio SX) and I currently own a 2005 Hyundai Elantra GT (bought in Jan 05). I have a 2003 Aerio SX with Auto in which I bought in Sept. of 2002. It currently has 55K miles and it is my daily driver. ... Read More
Ouch! Bad Experience! My brother owned a Hyundai Excel in the 80's that had less problems than you had with your Suzuki. As I said in an earlier post I will provide updates on the performance of my 2005 Aerio SX. I hope the horror stories I hear are isolated examples.
Again, my point is that Suzuki should have offered the dual chamber airbag to begin with. I'm not saying they need to retrofit the bag from the Forenza; rather, they should have designed a better airbag for the Aerio, especially once they knew the Forenza would have one. Offering a chest only airbag in 2005 is almost pointless unless they offered a head curtain to go along with it. Since they ... Read More
I read in the August 16 issue of Automotive News that the refreshed 2005 Aerio will be out very soon with a few minor interior and exterior changes. It also states that a whole new Aerio will be a 2008 redesign. They must plan on keeping it in the line up and that is good. They also mentioned a new compact car about the size of an Aerio for 2007. That ... Read More
If I were you, I'd wait until the 05 models of any Suzuki come out. You never know what features they might add! :-D
I agree with everything but the dash... I love the new dash. Suzuki has never offered a sunroof on this chassis. Must be a structural thing.?. I do not like chrome on the outside of any car I own so I would have to ditch the chrome on the grill and replace the new chrome tail lights with last years tri color units.
Let's see... > New front bumper, grille and fog lamp design. Looks ok, but similarities with Toyota Echo are too strong. > New-style 15-inch aluminum alloy wheels. More difficult to wash both sides of the rim, without taking out the wheel. > Automatic climate control. Very welcomed feature. > Reconfigured instrument panel, steering wheel > and console. > Change in instrument cluster from digital ... Read More
Looks like major improvements for the Aerio, particularly the interior and the air bags. Could be a real contender now if Suzuki keeps the price reasonable. The Reno also looks interesting, but is saddled with a ho-hum powertrain. At least they saw fit to give the Reno side air bags standard (along with the '05 Forenza).
I just dropped off my XL7 for maintenance when the service guy told me the 05s are in stock round back. He took me back where they had 2 2005 Suzuki Aerio SXs, one in white and the other silver but both FWD. The inside is NICE! The cloth, like the press release says, is improved and I also noticed that the cushioning is not as hard and more soft. The ... Read More
Thanks for posting the extensive list of changes and improvements in the 05 AERIO. I like the idea of side air bags. Quite a long list indeed. Anxious to check it out. When???
I recently received the 2005 MY changes in an e-mail from a Suzuki representative. Aerio SX and sedan: Powerfully Sporty A subcompact sedan and sport crossover (SX) model with the following standard equipment: 2.3-Liter engine with 155-horsepower and 152-lb.-ft. of torque – a top-performer in its class; side and advanced airbags; automatic climate control; air conditioning; power windows, door locks and mirrors; keyless remote entry; in-dash AM/FM CD player with seven ... According to this article, the Aerio will receive a facelift this year http://www.detnews.com/2004/autosinsider/0404/19/autos-125581.htm so rumours of it's impeding death may be somewhat premature. I've seen quite a few around the GTA, so they still seem to be selling ok here. I DO think Suzuki could do a better job with it, though. Styling is probably it's biggest problem....the SX hatch is about the only version I like. The Matrix isn't exactly ... Read More
I went to see the NY Auto Show the other day. There was an Aerio SX displayed there, but I don't remember seeing an Aerio sedan. The SX was displayed practically out of sight, behind a huge column, and all the way on the edge of Suzuki's display area. There was practically no visitor traffic around it. Suzuki's new cars, on the other hand, were displayed right in the middle of ... Read More
Well from what my dealer told me after their big regional dealer meeting is that the Aerio won't be discontinued. I didn't ask him that directly but he told me the supposed future lineup. It goes as: -The Vitara V6 stopped production about 2 months ago and will be DEFINITELY dropped for 2005. -The XL-7 is supposed to be the next GV either in name or placement in the lineup. It ... We have a good Suzuki dealer here in Tucson and they handle only Suzuki. However they rarely stock more than one Aerio at a time now and load their lot with Forenza, XL-7 and Verona. Thats what all the ads are on too and they claim there is no interest in the Aerio. We still love ours but they have all but forgotten it. I bet 2005 is the last year ... Read More
Saw this link on another site....shows a new Aerio grill and analogue instruments. I think the new interior is definitely classier-looking than the current one. The ground effects are more subtle, not as low and lose that "tacked-on" look. Even though I don't have a problem with the current digital dash (I do like being able to switch from km's to miles when we go to the States), the analogue dash/new ... Read More
