ANOTHER TROUBLE FREE SX
Written by: frenchcar on Apr 23, 2004 9:33:18 PM
22,000 miles on our 2002 SX and the paint is still perfect, we never had the door buzz nor any of the other problems that Jonathon had (post # 1065) but then a year ago he admitted that he never should have bought the Aerio in the first place as it didnt fit his image and he couldnt wait to get rid of it. The engine is ours is quieter now ... Read More

AERIO FUTURE ??
Written by: frenchcar on Apr 16, 2004 7:36:39 PM
I think this next year will be the last for the SX as Suzuki has lost interest in it and has not advertized it for quite some time now. It was popular in 2002 and then they forgot it when the Daewoo GM deal went through and they came out with the Forenza, Verona and now the Reno and F. Wagon. They ignored the SX and relagated it to fleet duty ... Read More

ROOF RACKS AND LUMBER
Written by: frenchcar on Dec 30, 2003 11:13:06 PM
I have carried a few 8 foot mouldings and 2 X 4s inside my Aerio SX by folding the back seat down and sliding the pieces through the opening between the front seat backs and resting the tips on the dash (I have a dash cover) and could possibly taken a 9 foot length and it works fine. Sheets of plywood wont work naturally. Many roof racks have 100 to 159 ... Read More

AERIO RELIABILITY
Written by: frenchcar on Nov 24, 2003 8:28:42 PM
Our early 2002 Aerio SX has 18000 miles on it in almost troublefree driving. One remote control quit working and thats it. Had a few strange noises the first month and they all went away. We have never had the brake problem a few owners had. Our experience owning 5 Suzuki products over the years has been very positive and comparable to Toyota, Subaru VW and Volvo experiences and much better ... Read More

Aerio Ownership Observations
Written by: guickg on Nov 24, 2003 1:49:51 PM
I purchased my 2002 Aerio SX automatic w/ABS in April 2002 (I have posted a few messages previously). The car currently has a little over 12,000 miles on it. Unlike some other owners, I have not had a very easy or pleasant experience with the car. I'll address some of my problem areas for everybody's reference. 1) My car was originally experiencing a lot of strong vibrations through the steering wheel ... Read More

AERIO FOR FRANK D'ANNA
Written by: frenchcar on Nov 3, 2003 10:36:58 AM
Hi Frank, we have a 2002 Aerio SX with 18000 miles and no problems at all and love it more each day. We traded in a 2000 Ford Focus ZTS on it as we were tired of and afraid of all the Focus re-calls. (however the Focus does have one of the better suspensions around) When you stomp hard on the gas the Aerio engine does produce a fairly loud growl ... Read More

2002 Aerio SX
Written by: nhsjr on Sep 13, 2003 3:46:16 PM
Update from post 732. I got some slick 50, oil and filter a few weeks ago, drove my car up on some ramps, and, even with a filter wrench could not get the thing off. Glad I tried that b4 draining the oil. Took the stuff and drove to my Suzuki dealer who decided to be kind and use my stuff and do the job for $10 so I'll plug them. ... Read More

Written by: smiller678 on Aug 31, 2003 8:31:52 AM
Hi all, I live in southern California about 25 miles from Brea where Suzuki's US Headquarters is located. I decided to take a drive there and look around. In their parking lot they had a 2004 Aerio SX, Verona and Forenza. Aerio SX: This is practically the same car. From the exterior only thing that has changed is the wheels. They are 5 spoke and look a little cleaner with less ... Read More

ANY AERIO OWNERS WITH OTHER SUZUKI VEHICLES??
Written by: frenchcar on Aug 25, 2003 1:28:13 PM
I have a 2002 Aerio and a 95 Sidekick I bought recently with 94,000 miles on it and it runs great. We are considering using the old Sidekick more to keep the mileage down on the Aerio as we hope to keep it a long time. How many miles have you put on your old Suzuki products? I dont think 200,000 miles is out of the question or am I just ... Read More

AERIO VS MATRIX
Written by: frenchcar on Jul 14, 2003 7:44:05 PM
My early 2002 Aerio SX automatic has 14,000 miles now with no problems other than one bad remote which they had in stock. I tried out the Matrix and Vibe and the Golf and we are happy we got the Aerio. The Matrix didnt sit right and our Aerio actually got better after we had 5 or 6000 miles on it. The gas mileage got dramatically better, it is faster and ... Read More

Recall
Written by: wheelz4 on Jul 17, 2003 7:49:01 AM
We bought a 2002 in June, 2002 (was delivered to the dealer about a week before we got it)...haven't seen any recall notice yet but will watch the mail. While getting a brand new vehicle would be nice (slight power upgrade, door buzzes resolved?? etc.), I'm not sure I like the centre rear seatbelt arrangement and we'd lose the centre rear armrest/cupholder as well (our son will be disappointed!) WINDSHIELD RECALL IS FOR REAL AND SO IS CAR REPLACEMENT
Written by: frenchcar on Jul 16, 2003 2:25:01 PM
My 2002 Aerio is not effected but a small number of late 02 and early 03 modeks do have a problem. My service adviser was not aware of it (has been on vacation), parts was not aware of it, nor were some of the salesmen. Then I talked to one of the mechanics AND HE KNEW ALL ABOUT IT. There was a paint booth malfunction or human error where a limited ... Read More

I am in NYC. My dealer also sells and services Lincoln-Mercury and Isuzu (not sure why three such different brands are sold together). Since I purchased my Aerio in May 2002, I have not seen any new dealerships appear in or around NYC or NYS for that matter (based on the Suzuki.com website dealer searches). Windshield Recall
Written by: guickg on Jul 15, 2003 10:12:03 AM
I purchased my 2002 Aerio SX in May 2002. I've called the Suzuki toll free customer service number to check if my car is being recalled. They ran my VIN and said no. The recall info is on the NHTSA.gov website. As has been pointed out by others, it affects Aerios, Vitaras and XL-7s, both 2002 and 2003 models. The recall data on the website indicates how many cars are affected ... Read More

Aerio SX performance and warranty questions

Bought a 2003 Suzuki Aerio SX with automatic transmission about a month ago after an Internet price quote from a Florida dealer for $13556 (after $2K customer rebate) + taxes + title = $14746 (final price). I would have really liked ABS with side airbags on my car. While ABS was optional, there was no Suzuki dealer in the whole of Florida that had an Aerio SX with ABS in their ... Read More

For several months I've been reading all the messages here and, to be quite sincere, there's no way to know better a car if you don't own it. Period. Forget about Consumer Reports, Road & Track, Car & Driver and other whining resources. They are not objective; They use to compare your typical suburban cruiser with models that you can't even dream to buy. I own a 2002 GLXT Automatic Aerio ... Read More

USED CAR VALUES for # 749
Written by: frenchcar on Apr 22, 2003 10:43:52 PM
Used car trade in values and auction prices are at an all time low right at the moment. Car sales were way up for several months which resulted in tons of trade ins and in the past 18 months there have been far more vehicles coming off lease than usual and this means overloaded used car lots and auctions too and this in turn means low prices. 2002 Aerio SX
Written by: nhsjr on Apr 20, 2003 12:23:49 AM
Hi all I purchased a leftover 2002 5spd w/abs in January. I paid $12,190. As of this note (2500mi) I still consider it a great deal, I get 33 mpg and it goes like er heck. This is my 4th Suzuki (car) the other 3 were Sprint/metro's. I love the cheap prices, wonderfully reliable, simple transportation. The Aerio is a great step forward for Suzuki, I comparison shopped the Matrix/Vibe, Protage5, ... Read More

Edmunds.com comparison test
Written by: guickg on Apr 10, 2003 7:48:34 AM
Have you guys checked out the Edmunds.com comparison test of six small wagons, including the Aerio SX? They put the Aerio in last place (I think the Matrix is rated No. 1). Although I do think that it should have been placed a little higher (possibly fourth), I do agree with many points they make in the writeup based on my one year of driving an Aerio SX (2002 auto w/ABS). ... smiller678, congratulation on your new Aerio!!! I guess I'm not the only one from SoCal here. I bought my 03 Aerio SX a little bit over a month ago and I paid the MSRP. It was the first batch of 03 model on the market. The dealer didn't budge, persisting that since I got 0-0 financing, Suzuki takes away dealer's incentive so he can't give me any discount. Aerio SX observations
Written by: guickg on Sep 17, 2002 8:15:28 AM
I've owned a 2002 Aerio SX auto with ABS in black since May'02. My observations follow. Positives: 1) Auto transmission shifts very well. 2) Brakes are more than adequate, but I highly recommend ABS. The wheels tend to lock up on wet surfaces, and I have felt ABS working on a number of occassions during hard braking. 3) Power steering feel is good. My steering wheel appears to be tilted just ... FWD vs. AWD

Hi, Well first, there is MORE of a difference between the AWD and FWD then just driving in snow and ice. I drove both in the rain over the weekend and I can tell you, this is not a simple FWD until the wheels slip system. It is definately an advanced system. The FWD couldn't take fast curves on the wet road... the car lost traction and the tail would slip ... Read More

FOR John Matero: Aerio vs. Elantra

I drove an Elantra GT last winter and was impressed for all the reasons you mentioned. We also strongly considered the Vibe, Matrix, the Mazda Protege 5, the VW Golf and the Jetta Wagon and of course the Aerio. Yes this will be a tough choice for you. My patience paid off. I just got my Suzuki Aerio SX with ABS and AWD. Yes, it is the 2003 model. It has some neat changes in the interior. In addition to what suzukidlr said, the 2003 model has a digital clock, outside temperature gauge, low fuel warning, better cloth material (suede like, not as rough as 2002 model) for seats and doors.
