Used TMV from $19,946
I purchased a used 2008 Tribeca with 5K miles in February 2009. I have had the transmission replaced twice. The dealer tried to get a brand new transmission for the second replacement but was told by Subaru America that they needed to replace it with a 're-manufactured' version - because they 'stand-behind' their product. With the third transmission now in use for about 2 months, it is beginning to rough shift ... Read More
Yes, till 2009 models accord was spinning during the rain when you try to start from full stop - happen to me multiple times with my 09 v6 accord, I hated it but it was related to OEM tires - that model of Michelin is so bad so the moment I replaced them on Bridgestone Potenza 960 A/S - I had no issues at all. with OEM tires it was dangerous ... My Wife's 08 Tribeca has, or should I say HAD the same shudder / vibration during trans shift under slight acceleration. After 3 visits to the dealer and demanding an explination I came across this forum. Needless to say I printed up all of the posts and highlighted all that pertained to our problem. The Service Manager read through it and went on Subaru's website to see if a Service Bulletin ... Read More
The label on the DVD says V 3, but The DVD does read 2007 Ver1. I have talked to Subaru and they said it was a glitch and to live with it as they had no idea how to fix it. When I opened the DVD up on my laptop and read the Version folder/file it read ver1
Imposible, you cant be using a 3.0 version and showing the 1.0. Are you sure you have the correct dvd in and not the old one? The navi is under the drivers seat,
No. I use a Garmin now. It sees more of the streets and addresses in my area. It plans better routes. Too bad Subaru did this to their Tribeca buyers. I suspect they will be dropping it because it is not a great seller, and it doesn't do well with gas mileage. I've also had a lot of problems with rattles.
I just bought a 2009 Tribeca with V 3.0 nav system, but when you check the version on the set up it shows Ver 1.0 also. Have you found a solution for this?
I have a 2009 Tribeca. It comes as Version 3 with 2 DVD's. The East is in the player. Both the East and the West have identical maps, but POI's differ for their respective coverage areas. The player is located under the seat and has a button for ejection on the unit. In general this is a poor GPS system compared to modern units like Garmin. It does not route to ... Read More
Just an update. It is now December of 2009 and we are still "shudder free" since the fixes noted in my earlier post. We love our Subaru!
I have a 4 months old 2009 Tribeca, 7 seater Ltd. package. It has 8,000 KM (5,000mile). About 2 months ago, I started to hear the "clicking" sound when pressing and realsing the brake paddle. Between the two clicks, I also hear a continuously high pitch noise (not loud but definitely audible). I took it to teh dealer, but was told the clicking sound is the "characteristic" of this particular model, ... Read More
Have you had any response from the dealer or any others? I had the same problem. Not only that, I also hear a continuously high pitch noise (not loud but definitely audible) between two clicks (pressing to releasing the brake paddle). I was told by the dealer the clicking sound is the "characteristic" of the model (2009 Tribeca Ltd.), and the best mechanic in this dealership could not "duplicate" the high ... Read More

call subaru headquarters they will be happy to give you version 3.0 for free, my 2008 tribeca had the old one as well, but the dealer should had given you the newer version as well since 3.0 came out in 2008 the time i bought mine.
I just bought a new Tribeca that came with V3 disks. I live in SE NC, and while it shows the names of most of the roads, it will not find any addresses on secondary roads, and that include the 10 year old development I live in. It will not route me to or from my home. It will not plan a route on secondary roads (those w/o highway numbers). When ... Read More
Hello , Looking at the 2009 Tribeca --any words of advice ? We have been Honda dedicated and were not making it anywhere with the pricing --and opted to try Subaru --the Forester / OB --while nice and better gas mileage ~~certainly didn't match the Tribeca for ride ... Any personal ownership stories would be great ~! ? Ddarttr
Further to my last entry of Jan4 2009, I have had the torque converter changed and various issues apparently dealt with or read on the computer. The problem remains.....may even be worse!! At about 80 to 110 kph if accelerating or climbing a grade, the sensation is just like an engine misfire. A jerking sensation which I am told is due to the torque converter not locking up or the transmission ... Read More
I purchased a 2008 Subaru Tribeca about 6 months ago. Like many of you, I loved the car. Soon after getting the car I noticed a high pitched noise when the engine was warm and I was stepping on the gas pedal at about 65 mph. I brought the car to Delray Subaru in Delray Beach, Florida for service on this issue. After a number of visits, Dave Adams the Service ... Read More
FHI is conducting a safety recall involving about 12,000 2006-2009 Tribecas in 24 overseas markets. Apparently, frequent excessive rear suspension stroke causes fatigue failure of the rear suspension's front lateral link. The fix is to replace the rear suspension's front lateral links with reinforced versions. This recall is interesting because the parts being replaced in order to correct a safety defect are almost certainly identical to the parts used in the ... Read More
the 3.0 works only with tribeca, legacy, forester and outback. WRX and impreza have a different one version 1.0. The best way is to call subaru usa and complaint that the dealer gave you an older version and they will send to you free of charge right away. The dealer did the same with mine and subaru of usa send me o free copy.
Except the Exiga is not coming to the USA....
What a disappointment. They don't say anything about Bluetooth or an improved Nav system or much of anything. I'm glad I didn't wait. I love Subaru but... What is Exiga? As far as I'm concerned, the third seat is pretty much of a joke anyway. I might have used it for the grandkids car seats on occasion but that's about all it's good for. Thanks for the update. I'm glad I ... Read More
http://www.drive.subaru.com/Sum08/Sum08_Tribeca.htm Nothing new except new colors. Notable miss is telescoping steering wheel. Legacy and Outback have it on 2008 model. Isn't Tribeca supposed to be top-of-line model from Subaru? Or... they give up on improvements given poor sales and now are just waiting to kill it? Especially with Exiga coming with seating for 7 too.
What do you mean linked? It's it's a sub topic in the Tribeca BP forum which is listed in the Subaru Crew.
Hosts, can we get this thread linked to other Subaru threads? Thanks. Bob
I started another thread for the 2009, based on info I received from Subaru Canada, and a Subaru Canada press release on the 2009 MY that was posted May 7. Cheers.
A few minutes after I posted, I found this from Subaru Canada on the 09 Tribeca: 2009 Subaru Tribeca: Exceptional features, competitive pricing TORONTO, May 7 /CNW/ - Just one year after the totally redesigned Subaru Tribeca was introduced to critical and consumer praise, Subaru is pleased to announce that the 2009 Tribeca will go on sale on May 7th. So, I'm trading my 05 OB XTL in for an SUV this fall, and seriously considering the Tribeca, Highlander, Veracruz. Sent a comment to Subaru Canada regarding the Tribeca as follows: Hi. New front grill looks ... Read More
I like the 20" I use full Pirelli Scorpion Snow Tires for the winter on the Factory Rims. easy to jack up the SUV and swap tires each season :) wow 22" and you kept the same size tire overall diameter? so that would mean some really low sidewalls... nice thing about running 20" full summer tires is they get better gas mileage for me... less rolling resistance. I gain about ... Read More

I disagree about the "boring" aspect of this recent discussion. varmint's post at varmint, "Subaru B9 Tribeca (B9X)" #2009, 1 Mar 2005 10:26 pm indicates he understands the issues:Technically, Subaru could increase the bore. I'm not saying they should, but they could. Using a technique similar to Honda's quad sequential-sleeve design, they might get the the distance between bores below 9mm. Honda got it down to 6mm.If anyone else actually read ... Read More
