If you want the luxury, you go back to the SVX, and XT6 days. SVX MSRP = ~$30K in 1992, XT6 MSRP = ~$20K in 1988....

the SVX was nearly $30k decked out in 1992. that was WAAAAYYY too much money for Subaru to be playing in. also think about how expensive the XT6 was....

the other serious consideration you should make is scavenging exhaust bits from a junkyard SVX, but I bet those are hard to find considering the sales numbers....

On the 1992 SVX is 155mph (156 actually, but I round to 155) In 1993 they changed the ECU and went to OBDII and speed limited it at 132mph....

I guess I'm off base here but my 1992 SVX with 230hp, AWD, and weighing about 3600+ lbs got 35mpg on the highway at 75-80mph. It had a 4 speed automatic transmission....
