I currently own four Subarus for myself, wife and children. I had two more Subarus previously. I come from an era when Jeeps had incredible numbers of quality problems, AMC cars were junk, etc. No car is perfect. The Nissan Quest at one time had serious engine problems and the I also had a Honda Odyssey with a transmission that started to fail for the SECOND time at 135,000. My 1998 ... Read More
I just bought a used 2008 Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT with ~36,500 miles on it and one previous owner. I found the car through autotrader at a dealership in Chicago Wilkins Hyundai and Mazda. Originally the dealer wanted 19,991$ (not including tax which would be 6% in MI since I am from Michigan), my friend and I were able to get him down to 18,775$. The specs on the car I ... Read More
Can an aux jack in a 2008 Subaru Legacy be replaced or do you have to replace the entire radio?
My 2008 Subaru Legacy aux jack isn't working. After $100. diagnostic at dealer, I was told I need a new radio. No problem with radio so far. Is there any way the jack can be fixed or do I have to get a new $450. radio installed? Jack is in console. Thanks.

That REALLY is funny (about the cabin filter that is) I have a 2008 Outback and am just about to turn 25k Miles. I have purchased a Cabin (3rd party)filter made by a company called Microban. I just purchased a 2008 CPO legacy from a subaru dealership. They sold me on a 3 yr/ 100,000 extended plan with a $100 deductible for 550 dollars. Did I just get suckered or might this be a good plan? It sounds like it could be worth it if anything happens with any electrical components, but maybe the 6 yr/100k powertrain warranty that comes with the car is enough. Also I ... Read More
Your car and the 2011 have different transmissions. I have owned two Subaru Outbacks with the 4EAT that is in your car (one of which was also a 2008), and they were fairly smooth, so there is certainly nothing normal about the symptoms you describe. I suspect the issue is with the electronic control, but I would also inspect the transmission fluid to see whether there are signs of physical wear ... Read More
I have a 2008 Subaru Outback 2.5i that has 43000 miles on it and is just now getting the head gasket replaced. I'm happy that it is still under warranty, but upset because I thought Subaru had addressed this issue with previous model years.
I bought My 2010 legacy about 11 months ago, it has 30,000km on it now. I have a huge proble with shaking, the whole car shakes when I drive over 100kph. the passanger front seat shakes like crazy. If the film is specifically on the outside and you've tried to clean it as well as Subaru service, that's a tough call. I assume you've cleaned the inside of your windshield. Hi everyone! Been a while since I posted - and I guess that's a good thing. We're just celebrating our 2 year anniversary with our `09 Legacy and it's been great to us - aside from a nasty pothole that we took and had to replace the tire! The car has been a dream to ride, and maintenance is as expected. Our car will be paid off by next August (2011), ... Read More

Though I welcome the Subaru reviews, the recent ones have been carelessly mistake ridden, and perhaps even worse the mistakes aren't just typos, they come with feeble editorial hooey that tries to rationalize the nonsense. Perhaps the writters should know their audience better, Subaru followers are not only going to notice, but, perhaps even resent the notion that they can be duped with such sloppy journalism.
Sorry but the article is so ridden with mistakes I must point them out... Some 95 percent of peak torque is available at just 1,800 rpm and it also pulls strongly right up to 6,000 rpm. As a result, you can now take 2nd-gear corners in 3rd gear thanks to the beefy bottom-end torque and instant throttle response, so there's more traction and more control. How does a wider range of ... Read More

Is this a good deal on the 2.5i Spec. Edition Lease. Retail is $24,345 minus dealer discount of $1,000 (for leasing) - $1,250 (customer cash) - $1,572 (dealer discount) for a total of (-$3696) off of the vehicle. Price of vehicle is then $20,649 with a 69% residual ($16978). Money Factor is .0019. Lease term is for 24 months. Payment for 10K is $280 per month. Payment for 12K is $291.per ... Read More
That price is as low as we've seen here, so I'd definitely go for it! I'd don't see any reason for worry about the dealership going out of business as long as you've got somewhere to have it serviced. You may see if they have another dealer they're referring their service dept. business to. Fantastic price!
I got this price quote from Subaru of Thousand Oaks (CA): 2008 SUBARU LEGACY LTD 2.5i SEDAN (vdc) DEEP BRONZE METALLIC TAUPE LEATHER SEATS CENTER ARMREST EXTENSION AUTO DIM MIRROR YOUR PRICE $23,199.00 PLUS TAX AND LICENSE MINUS $1,000.00 FACTORY REBATE $22,199.00 Is this a good price? Also, they said that they are going out of business by 12/31/2007 so does this make for hassles down the line?
I wonder if that $254 is the fee paid to Subaru of New England rather than a documentary fee...? That's a great price. Way to go & congrats!
I ended up buying a 2008 Legacy Limited w/ vdc (see post # 535) for $21,500 + $254 doc. fee + 7% RI sales tax. This price includes the $1,000 rebate. I purchased the car from Patrick Subaru in Shrewsbury, MA.
Yes, that price is very, very good. You may be able to get $100-$200 more off (maybe not), but there's no way they can drop another $2000 to include any taxes & fees at that price. Subarus are very reliable (Consumer Reports rates them at #2, behind Honda only), so I think you're less likely to come across unexpected repairs. Maintenance isn't pricey like European brands, but if I had to ... Read More
Got a price quote for 2008 Subaru Legacy LTD AWD w/VDC for $22,390 with little extra option which includes all-weather floor mats, auto-dim rear view mirror/compass, and the factory color keyed slash guards. Is this good price for the car? Seems the price is pretty good. Checked out edmunds.com and it was under invoice. I think this price is with the rebate they are offering. He didnt mention that on the ... Read More
Your price is good, but there may be up to $1000 more wiggle room. For example, Fitzmall in MD lists a mid-range Legacy for nearly $2000 below invoice, including the rebate, so they've got nearly $1000 in some type of factory-to-dealer incentives to get to that price. Based on your sticker price, I'm guessing your car has about $500 in options, in which case it should invoice for around $24,300. Subtract ... Read More
