2005 Subaru Legacy Sedan 2.5 GT Limited AWD 4dr Sedan (2.5L 4cyl Turbo 5M)

Review

Going on two years with our legacy GT LTD. Sweet car, super fast... when I drive our other car, I miss the acceleration. Turbo lag is slightly noticeable, but once the turbo kicks in, it's smile time. Handling is great, acceleration is great, driving it in the mountains is super fun. AWD is great also, but get the snow tires if you live in an icy area... the standard tires don't handle worth anything on ice. Get the short throw shifter, also. This car is a lot of fun for a very low cost compared to the G35 and Acura RL. The gas mileage isn't too heinous, we average about 25mpg, less if you're really thrashing it.

Best Features

Tons of great features at a low cost, low-key looks (it's the best looking Subaru out there), heated leather seats (a must in the winter around here), and did I mention how fast this thing is? Being able to blow away 99% of the cars on the road rocks.

Worst Features

MP3 hookup (a feature Subaru is adding soon), tires that work on ice, rear seats that fold down all the way, better reliability -- it stinks to have the cruise disabled when the CEL comes on.

2005 Subaru Legacy Sedan 2.5 GT AWD 4dr Sedan (2.5L 4cyl Turbo 5M)

Review

I had a 2000 Audi A6 Biturbo and then upgraded to a 2003 Allroad, before I finally got smart and got the Subaru GT. It is just as quick as the Audi's, with more road nose, while the interior materials and finishes are 80% of the Audi's. The Subaru does not handle nearly as well as the Audi, but there are no mystery 45 MPH wobble, don't have to have the brakes replaced every 5,000 miles, and no electrical problems. (all of which plagued both my Audi’s) As a consumer I would say that Subaru took the A4 – A6 and copied as much as they could to make an inexpensive version that is much more reliable. All in all the Subaru GT has been a great choice for my family, but I do miss the A6 Biturbo

Best Features

The turbo and 5 speed transmission, 6 disc CD player, heated seats, all wheel drive, and the total cost of the car.

Worst Features

Better sound system, the car is somewhat noisey and the sound system is lacking in clearity. Also the door windows don't have metal frames around them, hence as you close the door pushing on the glass it feels like it will become a problem in the future.

Review

This car is great fun if you have a family. The back seat is a little tight, but everything else about this car is awesome. It accelerates like crazy. It has great build quality and well designed layout.

Best Features

The power, exterior and well designed interior.

Worst Features

Gas tank is on wrong side. The trunk and gas door release are awkward. Gas mileage isn't too great since it is hard to not floor it at every light! ;) Seat memory would be nice. It would be nice to see outside temp and gas mileage at the same time.

Review

Car itself has been flawless. The rotors warped at 20,000 miles but dealer replaced them under warranty.

Best Features

AWD, turbo power.

Worst Features

Need XM radio hook ups and better tires.

Review

Excellent performance. Great cornering, very stable on the road. Capable of very rapid changes in speed. Only reservations -- manual seat controls and seat structure. On a trip in excess of two hours the seats have poor to no vertical movement control. As the seats are low it is difficult to be comfortable. Worse the passenger seat base will not go back far enough to accommodate long legs. In the driver's seat, I find the left foot rest to be too high in relation to the gas pedal for long ride comfort. Passenger seat base is lower to floor than driver's seat base which affects rear passenger comfort (cannot with comfort put feet under front seat).

Best Features

Performance. Value for money.

Worst Features

Seat physics.
