2005 Subaru Legacy Sedan 2.5i AWD 4dr Sedan (2.5L 4cyl 4A)

Review

The transmission on my 05 sedan failed at 7,700 miles. A bushing failed causing the seal to burst and then catastrophic failure, high and low clutch burnout, etc. I'm concerned now about the quality of my Subaru.

Best Features

I like the AWD and the way my car clings to the road in all weather conditions.

Worst Features

Make it possible to clean transmission fluid out of exhaust channels after seal burst so you don't have noxious fumes forever. I've been told there is no solution to the after-repair burning fluid problem.

2005 Subaru Legacy Sedan 2.5 GT Limited AWD 4dr Sedan (2.5L 4cyl Turbo 5A)

Review

Great car, fun to drive, lots of horsepower, great handling, I love this car, bought for $28,700, new with 267 miles on it. The motor is a little noisy but you don't hear it inside, and the performance makes up for it. I like the performance shift on the steering wheel but would rather have a stereo volume control. High performance, great car otherwise and with 4 doors for the kids.

Best Features

250 horses of raw turbo charged screaming power, one of the fastest cars I have owned.

Worst Features

Move the stereo volume control on the steering wheel and take the speed shifter for the transmission off. Lose some outside engine noise.

Review

Driving out to look at the Acura one more time and possibly sign papers on it, I passed the Subaru dealership. I'm so glad I did because it was love at first sight. I drove the Legacy and the Acura was a distant memory. For much less money I got much more car. I wasn't expecting this much; after all, I owned a '91 Legacy and it was a very reliable but very basic car. This car is beautiful and a blast to drive. Has everything I want and more. All of which was standard equipment! 250 HP, ventilated heated leather seats, 6 CD changer, dual climate control, Sportshift, 17" low profile wheels, signal indicators on side mirrors, DRL, AWD, fuel usage and temp display. All this for around $26,000.

Best Features

Comfy seats, dual climate control, MOMO steering wheel, and the fact that there aren't a squillion of these cars on the road...yet.

Worst Features

Only 1,000 miles in and I'm hearing rattles from the dash area. Slightly annoying! Fuel economy could be better but it's worth it. Taller arm rest should be standard. Drink holders are big enough to hold Super Big Gulps which makes smaller containers fall over. Stand close when using remote entry.

Review

I have 4000 on the odometer and this car is still a hoot to drive. Everything works well, except Tiptronic is a bit hesitant to upshift. AWD great with the turbo. Other two cars are a Lexus GS430 and Miata. My preference is still between the Miata and Subie. Love the looks of this car. Ride is firm but comfortable. Great car for the money.

Best Features

Ride and handling.

Review

My wife and I have owned this vehicle for just about 7 months and we're enjoying every mile in it. The quality of the interior is impeccable and so well designed in terms of ergonomics. Everything seems to be in its natural location. The endless supply of torque power this car has to offer is overwhelming and will make anybody feel confident behind the wheel. The confidence doesn't only come from the immense amount of power, but it comes from the symmetrical AWD system. I just can't say enough about this car it was truly one of the best decisions we made. It was worth the wait. Hey it wasn't Car of the Year in Japan twice for nothing. Think of the competition it had to beat!

Best Features

My favorite features are the standard AWD, seat warmers, wiper blade warmers, dual climate control, 6 disc CD changer, 17" alloy rims, dual exhaust & of course the manumatic sport shifter with sport mode.

Worst Features

The only change I would make would be to try and squeeze out a little better gas mileage. I know it's a give and take...if you want the turbo charged power then you need to make a sacrifice somewhere. It wouldn't be so bad if it didn't take the premium blend. Why can't we get lower gas prices?
