This car is very dependable and has been
very comforting to drive in very bad
weather. We've gone on numerous road
trips, skiing, boating, camping etc.,
with the car completly packed with gear.
I've never hesitated going off the
beaten path into remote areas. AWD and
ABS are amazing. It feels really good on
the highways, nice and smooth.

Purchased Subaru for Safety ratings and
what a mistake. I am convinced the
safety rating are good, because its
never out of the shop long enough to
drive. Warrenty repairs: radio repaired
twice, window repaired twice, battery
terminals corroded, clutch adjusted.
Everything else is not diagnosed until
after warrenty: replaced front axle,
replaced clutch, replaced wheel
bearing, timing belt and replaced
clutch. Guess what? It needs to be
replaced again after only 18,000 miles.
This is a family garage kept car. It is
only 6 years old with mostly highway
miles. The national and local dealer
claim it is my driving and these
repairs are "normal."
A new sport model debuts, with a larger, more powerful engine. The 2.5GT is available in sedan or wagon format. The luxury-oriented LSi model also gets the new motor. A knobby-tired, raised-roof Outback wagon appears, offering 7.3 inches of ground clearance and an optional 2.5-liter engine. Designed specifically for American consumers, the Outback provides a carlike ride with light-duty off-road ability.
