  i have a 1995 lagacy L station wagon, my check engine light stays on all the time. I had it scanned and was told it was the air flow senser which is connected to the air filter box. I replaced it and still have the same problem. Anyone got any suggestions??? I'm at a loss. Thanks.

  It certainly involves the starter. You should check the battery cables for corrosion and makes sure they are tight at all connection points. The negative terminal mounts to a bracket, which in turn is held in place by the upper starter bolt - if something is loose, this is the most likely spot.   Yes it may be a bad starter. went out this morning and wouldn't start, clicked once and nothing, repeated 2-3 times and same thing. Did the old tapping on the starter (was easy to find, right on top of engine at right rear) and turned over alittle bit the first attempt, second then started right up. Faulty solenoid and does anyone know if I have to replace the whole starter?

  I've a starting problem, mostly intermittent now but getting more frequent. Replace battery 1 yr. ago with good high cranking amp rated, lights work well etc., just won't turnover sometimes. Mostly in the morning when freesing but sometimes during the 50 degree days. Come back a couple hours later then it'll start. Some faulty swithc somewhere? Appreciate responses, thanks

  I understand that the 1995 Subaru Legacy and Impreza uses the OBDII system. However, it does not have a connector receptacle on the lower dash to the left side of the steering wheel like my 1997 Impreza and 1998 Legacy has. Does anyone know where the connector receptacle is? I did find a connector under the dash, but it will not fit the OBDII scanner cable.

  I am looking at a 1995 Legacy AWD wagon with 80K miles. When turning from a stopped position, such as pulling out of a parking space, the power steering is quite heavy. It seems normal at driving speeds. Is this an expected characteristic of the vehicle? There is no PS noise and the fluid is full. I don't have access to a similar Subaru to compare the steering.
